INDIA.ARIE HOPES SATC SONG WILL TAKE HER TO THE NEXT LEVEL India.Arie has high hopes for her new single, which has a coveted place on the The Sex and the City soundtrack. Her cover of Don Henley's "Heart of the Matter" isn't exactly new, but she said Universal did nothing with it when it came out two years ago. "So Universal is going back to radio with it and starting all over," India told me. "Hopefully this time it will work."[Fox]
I did hear it on the radio a week ago at a doctor's office and was wondering why they would be playing it after the album came out so long ago. Hopefully it brings her the attention she deserves as a great artist
This is why I cant stand that rianha chick; how ever you spell her name. Truly talented artist do not get the attention from the recored labels; and there for attention from the public, that they deserves.
I thought it was popular. Guess I'm just a fan because I played it to death.
What does this have to do with Rihanna? These are two completely different genres. Rihanna does her genre (pop) well. india.arie does hers (neo-soul) well. A big part of the reason why artists like india don't get attention is that people don't buy their albums as much as they buy Mariah's, KanYe's or Madonna. That kinda goes with the type of music she produces though I do think india is incredibly successful, both with the quality of what she puts out and in sales.
I will say that her last album was a little too self-help/Oprah/Dr. Phil for my taste. I'm all for encouragement and positivity but I have my limit.
I brought her third alblm. There are some artists whose work I bye just because.

I must admit that I was SOOO excited when I heard that song on the SATC commercial! I texted all of my friends who are also faithful fans. Maybe this is the breakthrough India needs to become commercially successful? Get those 5 Grammys she should have had all those years ago? Lol.
Daria, I had the opportunity to interview this artist the other day & he was saying that he views making records as a "snapshot of where that artist was at that time." From the sound of the 3rd CD, that's just where India was- getting over some relationship tragedy? Maybe? Lol.
