BEAUTIFUL AT ANY AGE Rerun network TV Land is exploring the realm of original programming with a new modeling competition show called She's Got The Look, in which the contestants will all be 35 and older. Groundbreaking model (and wig entrepreneur) Beverly Johnson is one of the judges. "What I was looking for was the ambition and the desire. That’s one thing you can’t give a person,” Johnson told EUR about judging the show. “I saw so many beautiful women enter the industry when I was coming up – or even now, and I’ve said, ‘Uh oh, this girl is going to come in and take over. She’s just gorgeous.’ And then they don’t make it. They just don’t want it. So, I had to see that light. I had to see that desire. I had to see that ambition.”
UPDATE Check out a photo of the contestants after the jump.

So f–king shallow, lame and pathetic. Can we please just stop with modeling shows and stop forcing women to try to feel insecure about their bodies?
I guess I look at it differently in a society where women are basically forgotten after reaching a certain age and anti-aging creams and body lotions are everywhere; I think it's great to acknowledge that beauty doesnt disappear after 35. Hopefully it will broaden some people's perception of beauty. I just hope they're not all size 2's cause I think as people get older they need a little more weight to look good.
Its sad that they're still being judged on beauty but hey its a step.
Can I just say that Beverly Johnson is one of the most beautiful women to have ever lived. Her bone structure is simply divine. The only model with a facial structure that comes is Paulina Porizkovia.
I have always noticed that many women become angry upset and insecure when talking about the beauty of other women. Some people are more blessed or gifted than others whether it is in spelling, math, sports, language, beauty etc
Deaf Feminist Punk- I will not blame the creators of the various modeling shows for making women feel bad about their bodies as each one of us could shut off the television at any time. Do not allow other people to mold your self esteem.
There is a contestant named Celeste on that show. Why is she 50 but looks 25. I know there is that saying about blk don't crack but my God.
Ah, if Tyra's girls, chosen in step with all of the conventional standards in mind usually don't make it, what's the likelihood that this show is going to lead to real careers for these women, who will generally be in much lower demand than the whippet thin 20-somethings on ANTM?
I had to come back. That 50 year old woman in the middle is drinking the blood of babies. Why does she look as good and beter than a lot of 25 year olds. Her daughter's husband was so happy when he saw how well his mother-in-law held up.
I don't think it's about these women becoming supermodels but, like many reality stars before them, they could have a shot at carving out a career as a personality/television host (TLC, HGTV, etc.) You never know.
I wonder if any of the women Essence has featured in their past aging issues will turn up here.
Damn. Work it ladies.
@DEAF FEMINIST PUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: If you don't like beautiful women and are comfortable with a society that only celebrates the beauty of 18-25 year old, blond, blue-eyed, 5'11" and 100 lb women, then keep it moving and don't pay attention. These women are BEAUTIFUL and I so want to make my mother watch this show. She's 50, looks 30, and acts and dresses like a 75 year old. Not cool. I think people start looking bad when they get older not because of the natural aging process but because they've pretty much absorbed the view that a woman over 40 is quickly going down in the looks department. That's why they look like crap.
Some of those women look tranny.
Lee, stop hating!
