R.I.P. Tim Russert "Tim Russert, NBC journalist and political heavyweight host of "Meet the Press," has died after collapsing at NBC's Washington news bureau, a source said. He was 58 years old." [NYP]
I valued his commitment to being balanced and brutal to everyone regardless for what side of the aisle they sat on. What a loss! I'll miss his insight during the election cycle.
He was a good jouranalist. He was one of the few that brought an honest passion to being a political analyst. Sometimes even bringing an entertaining excitment to it (remembering the 2000 general election. He will be missed, may he rest in peace and my prayers are with his family.
I thought he was the best. He will be truly missed. He was one of the few that stayed true to the story and didn't try to add on ridiculous statements to make himself look smarter. I just watched him recently after Obama was declared the nominee and he was sooooo excited to start this election. He described so elegantly the historic moment of this entire primary and upcoming election and said if the media plays its part by covering the election honestly that he just couldn't wait to get started. He really showed his love for his job.
Its sad that Russert died, but the cable news media is acting like the world has stopped. No one cares about all these floods in the midwest. People are in serious trouble and we are getting 24/7 news coverage about this one man that died. Tim Russert would be ashamed of this coverage.
Its a good thing Russert didn't die during Katrina, Otherwise nbc would have been too busy covering his death and wouldn't have had time covering the mass flooding that is happening right now. At least they aren't showing those prison shows 24/7.
I'm sure Tim Russert was probably a very nice man, and greatly loved by the people who KNEW HIM, but the BREAKING NEWS coverage of his death yesterday was a bit much. The death of an overweight middle aged news anchor is not national news
I have lots of snarky things to say to the last tree posters, but i am going to leave it alone and say RIP to a journalist who approached his job with honesty and integrity and earned the respect of polticians on both sides of the aisle for getting at the issues and not the chum…prayers for his family.
Divalisious,
I'm very sorry to sound snarky, but I'm sure you might sound snarky too,if you have been calling your parents for 24 hours and can't get in touch with them do this this flood disaster. Meanwhile, I can't get any news on this because this flood since it coincides with the death of one of their peers. Its very tragic that he has passed, but that doesn't give the national news networks the right to ignore every other news story that has happened in the last 2 days. They are giving him moe coverage that the death of the Pope, President Ford, President Nixon, and Mother Teresa. Mean while Americans are stuck in the worst flood since Katrina. I think The great Mr Russert would be be ashamed of this. Mr Russerts death deserves attention, but not at the expense of the people that these news networks are supposed to serve. I'm very sorry to sound snarky, but thats were I was at.
OMG!!! I cannot believe this!
Sad day in America. One of the best that I have seen. I *really* liked this man.

I just saw that on MSN…I was SO shocked when I saw the news! This is very sad…I liked his show and him as a person.
I haven't cried like this since a family member passed away. I don't know why this has moved me so much.
He was the BEST journalist (sorry LW ;-)) of my lifetime.
Wow, this is so out-of-the blue. He was a good jounalist.
Not to wish harm on anybody else, but why did it have to be somebody from MSNBC? One of the best journalist. Such a shock!
