Despite rumors to the contrary, Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Las Vegas passed inspection and opened (in typical grand style) last night for LeBron James' 23rd birthday party. Lots of stars were in attendance, but expect more at tonight's New Year's Eve party — apparently, none of these people mind spending two nights in a row at Jay-Z's club. More pictures, including one of Rev. Al "Decency in Hip Hop" Sharpton throwing up the Roc sign with Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel, after the jump.
Why does this all sadden me? Why does it all seem so delusional, pointless and a total waste of time and money? Really. What use is Jay-Z? A collection of black millionaires riding each other. Pointless.

Al stays straddling that fence.

I'm saying… SMH at Rev. Flip-Flopper. I guess Rev. Al didn't hear "Say Hello" on American Gangster.
I don't think it's delusional or a waste of time to celebrate a birthday or the opening of a club, but I agree that Jay Z doesn't seem to put his money to the best use (ala Magic Johnson).
Why don't the pics of Al Sharpton at events like this get printed on the front page of newspapers? That would shut him up real quick. Trust.
Bey looks terrible here. Did she and Jay just finish doing it in the bathroom?? Her makeup looks washed off and she's only wearing earrings. No necklace or bracelets?? Fishy.
Pointless? It's the kids 23rd birthday! Stop being so hard on him. If you had the cash and the contacts, you'd be partyin' it up with Jigga too. Why not? Lay off the MVP and get a life! ha.
looks the same as all the thousands of hip hop parties we've been exposed to. load up images of post-Katrina New Orleans next to these pictures and you realize real quick the foolishness of these parties. maybe we're falling back into the 30's Great Depression, where images of the super-rich partying it up kept the poor majority dreaming long enough to forget their plight. the rich will never be satisfied until they really truly give back, and no amount of partying can satiate that.
Beyonce looks damn good, blackmistressdiva must be farsighted cause im pretty sure she has on a bracelet and rings. Do you realize Jay-Z was opening his club the other night? Maybe having a lot of famous people in attendance would generate publicity and increase business, right? I think I heard somewhere that Jay-Z grew up in the projects of brooklyn and built his fame around a business he started himself. Sounds kinda inspiring to me.

Robin and his dad look nice together.

A punk 23 year old. What is the world coming to. And Al Sharpton. Meaningless person of the year award recipient.

Rev. Al is so wack…that's right I said it - wack! When is the black community ever going to get some real leaders?
