STRIKING OUT The Writers Guild of America, which is currently on strike and seriously messing with my television schedule, said no to a request from the Hollywood Foreign Press to allow union writers to work on the Golden Globes show. Same goes for the Oscars. Is this really such a big loss, though? When was the last time award show writing was any good? A bigger problem will arise if the strikers picket outside the awards ceremony and actors refuse to cross the picket line in order to attend.
Big props to my WGA brothers and sisters!!! Keep your heads up!
I heard that since SAG is supporting WGA, there will be no actors presenting awards at the Globes or the Oscars. I wonder where the gift bags will go….
I was told that - as it stands now - actors will present, but it'll be B-level actors and the award shows probably won't be televised so there will just be a few hacks reading the names of the winners.
