AN AUSSIE APOLOGY It's hard to imagine that there has never been one, but Australia is about to make its first formal apology to the "stolen generation" of Aborigines next month.
According to CNN, Aborigines in Australia are the most likely to be jailed, unemployed, and illiterate. Members of Parliament think that this will help ease relations. It's gonna take a lot more than a proclamation to make up for what happened and is still happening, mates.
I have been a lurker for quite some time. I enjoy reading your postings. I have been interested in the plight of the Aboriginal people of Australia for years. They are an interesting race of people who are plagued by the exact same problems as the Aboriginal/Native Americans; alcoholism, illiteracy, teen pregnancy and unemployment.
If you have not seen it, check out the movie, "Rabbit Proof Fence". FABULOUS movie that is a true account of three sisters part of the "stolen generation".
Really?? First apology?? God-I've had so many arguments with austrailians about this-there are a lot in London and it's crazy…
I thought they did make a half arse apology before but I guess not…but what the hell does it mean? The uk keep on aplogising for slavery but they DON'T mean it??
