CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? Well, I've been blown away by a lot of things since I became a blogger, but this really goes above and beyond. The Pentagon has just released a study called “Saddam and Terrorism: Emerging Insights from Captured Iraqi Documents” that concludes there was NO LINK BETWEEN AL QAEDA AND SADDAM HUSSEIN. Conveniently, there will be no press briefings on the study, which we should think of as a special anniversary present from our government to the war. The two will have been intimately involved for 5 years on March 19th. Wish the lovers well! [NYT]
It was all for naught.
Well, actually, it was for the benefit of Halliburton, big oil, and companies that were contracted by the department of defense. Kudos to them.
I'm blown away — not by the findings — but by the fact that they released them.
since the war's beginning, i've felt like i'm taking crazy pills (a la zoolander) with the way the media and people in general let them get away with that bogus, trying-too-hard connection.
can't believe it's coming out now. so mad that spitzer john is headline news and not this. typical.
We are such pushovers in this country. Do you think Bush would be able to pull this type of garbage in France if he was PM?
I can believe it, and I knew it all along. Furthermore, Sadam Hussein’s son in law (who was later murdered by one of Sadam's homies) said that there were no weapons in Iraq, the weapons were dismantled and the program discontinued a long time ago.
Immediately after September 11 occurred, there was talk of Sadam being involved but it was quickly shot down. It was later mentioned that he was aware of the plan, but that he disagreed with the attacks
Summer thats how it always works. Whenever something like this comes out, there is a little story that comes about to masks the real dirt.
Not.blown.away.at.all. They don't care.
Well, they're not widely releasing it. From the story that appeared in the NY Times:
"the report will not be posted on the Internet, as originally planned, and no one will conduct any briefings on its conclusions. Anyone wanting to read it will have to ask the United States Joint Forces Command in Norfolk, Va., for a copy. Officials promise to send it by mail."
