Racism Made Kwame Kilpatrick Do It

kilpatrick.jpg Kwame Kilpatrick, who engaged in an illicit affair with his chief of staff — an affair that he possibly fired his police chief over and definitely lied about on the stand — is saying that racism has fueled the intense hatred that's been lobbed in his directions in the seven weeks since the news broke. Not his irresponsibility and inability to keep it in his pants. Never that. Gotta love personal responsibility in politics!

"In the past 30 days I've been called a n—– more than any time in my entire life," he told a cheering, invitation-only crowd of 1,500 at Detroit's gilded Orchestra Hall. "In the past three days I've received more death threats than I have in my entire administration. I've heard these words, but I've never heard people say them about my wife and children. I have to say this, because it's very personal to me." He stole a glance at his wife and twin 12-year-old sons standing at attention in a luxury box above the stage. "I don't believe a Nielsen rating is worth the life of my children or your children. This unethical, illegal lynch-mob mentality has to stop."

Unethical and illegal? Kilpatrick surely knows all about that. But maybe instead of feeling sorry for himself, he can take a page out of Eliot Spitzer's book and resign.

UPDATE: People are not calling Kilpatrick a hypocrite for using the word "nigger" in his speech despite symbolically burying it last year. Whatever, people. It can rise from the dead on special occasions.

Kwame's such a loser. He's cost the D $9 mil in damages that those wrongfully fired officers collected and he's done nothing to make it better. All he's done is get his smut on with taxpayer's money. He needs to get lost. I wonder if baby boy-coddling Negroes will fall for the "They calling me nigger" bait.

What comes out of his mouth is hot garbage. The WORST thing he can do is claim racism. I'm so angered by this, because false accusations like this make it so much harder when there actually IS rascism (yes, racism happens, but there is a right way to deal with it, and a wrong way to deal with it). Have some dignity and try to manage some of the damage by resigning. Don't make them drag you out, kicking and screaming, holding onto the carpet.

"he told a cheering, invitation-only crowd of 1,500"

Everyone that attended that 'invite only' piece of shit is corrupt themselves. He rounded up a group of people that he knew would qualify his corrupt behavior.

Anonymiss, you're right. There are sooo many people that buy into his lies it's unbelievable!!

@JB - dubya n'em did the same thing while campaigning, holding "invitation only" campaign events, where his supporters would ask soft questions. Way to work the crowd.

Some one in the audience should have thrown a banana at him.

Someone at that party wrote the story or leaked it, so I wouldn't say all the invitees corrupt.

I remember when (white) people were hailing him for being a young politician, his calls for personal accountability, and being a family man. I didn't buy it then. His pandering makes my stomach turn.

joined,

There was no story. His entire speech was broadcast live on television that night. I watched the first 20 minutes then stopped watching it b/c bullshit makes me sick. Whenever they panned the audience you could see all the of the primary people that back him. None of his haters were there though…how convenient.
