For those who continue to wince at a white man comedically portraying a black man (and all the stereotypes which accompany that role), how far is too far from a black man?
This is Chris Rock in the new issue of Rolling Stone:
Barack has a handicap the other candidates don't have: Barack Obama has a black wife. And I don't think a black woman can be first lady of the United States. Yeah, I said it! A black woman can be president, no problem. First lady? Can't do it. You know why? Because a black woman cannot play the background of a relationship. Just imagine telling your black wife that you're president? 'Honey, I did it! I won! I'm the president.' 'No, we the president! And I want my girlfriends in the Cabinet! I want Kiki to be secretary of state! She can fight!'
*sigh*
This is not the time.
Really Chris? Really? *double sigh*
I hope Chris was being sarcastic, because perpetuating the sassy/bossy/angry black woman is extremely DATED.
I would have expected much better from Chris Rock since he's such a positive black male role model and good husband - oh wait…
i agree with solitaire: this bit is very dated.
chris rock doesn't perform a role that i want to model, but i still love him for trying, and bringing, gritty race issues to a wide(r) audience.
love that human.
Weell then…
hmph!
Why can't kiki work for the cabinet? She got a degree from Devry just like eeerrrybody else!

I'm sure he was being sarcastic. He's married to the ultimate BAQ. He has two daughters. He's a big Obama supporter.
The timing is very off.
I love Chris, but not in front of company…
