CASTING THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION

Thandie Newton is in final talks to play Condoleezza Rice in Oliver Stone's George W. Bush biopic, W. Odd choice for Condi, but the entire movie is an odd choice, if you ask me. Who's a better choice? I can see Angela Bassett rocking that hairdo like a pro. [EUR]

I rather liked Janet Jackson's bucked teeth rendition on SNL. Might as well make a joke out a joke.

^^^yeah Janet's skit was funny. Why are they making a movie on the soon-to-be ex president? smh

I love me some Thandie, but I'm thinking Kerry Washington, Obama supporter that she is.:-D Or Sanaa Lathan or Nia Long…I can see them swerking the flip and, yeah, even, the Middle-Manager Sistah 'do that Secretary Rice is working now.

I can see Angela Basset OR Kimberly Elise playing Condi in a heartbeat, but that's just my opinion.

Plus, they always choose the "lighter" blks when it comes to choosing blk characters. Just like they had Halle Barry playing "Storm" in X-Men, when they could have chosen Angela Bassett who looks and sounds like Storm, but then again… maybe Bassett never auditioned.

Thandie is too beautiful and the wrong species to play the sell out.

Sorry, have my personal opinions on what (non-human) should play Condi.

This is obviously Hollywood's way of apologizing to Thandie for giving Angelina Jolie to role of Daniel Pearl's wife in that crappy movie that no one actually saw.

LOL Achoo.

For the record, Angela Basset was offered Storm but turned it down. Not sure why, have my theories, heard some rumors, but she did in fact say no.

To that end, Kimberly Elise or Nia Long would be really great! Angela is the obvious choice, I think.

But, Thandie will get it. Oh and she's not American. Just another little tidbit!

Shame AB turned it down, she does fierce like nobody else. Thandie does not have the gravitas, I think. I don't mind her, but she just hasn't got that weight.

@ Ike: As for Storm in X-Men… I still think they should have got someone like Grace Jones to play her. I grew up reading the comics and the Halle Berry casting horrified me - she does not say 'strong African woman' to me.

Why's Condi worthy of a flick?
