WHAT A COINCIDENCE! Barry Diller, the IAC mogul behind the new black-centered Web site, RushmoreDrive.com, is being sued by an employee of HSN, another of his holdings, for racial discrimination. "The St. Petersburg Press reports that Armanda Vernon, who is African-American, claims that "she was turned down for numerous internal jobs despite being well-qualified' and that 'her treatment fit a pattern of anti-black treatment at HSN."'
According to Diller's lawyer, Vernon previously tried to file this complaint with the EEOC, and they didn't find the evidence sufficient enough to take on the case. I wonder what comes up with you put "workplace discrimination" into RushmoreDrive's handy "ethnic" search engine. [NYP]
My first entertainment biz job was for USA films (a Diller prod company) and I recall black employees saying that they did not get promoted quickly. Granted there were only a few of us. I personally didn't experience anything bad from a racial standpoint. My boss was a total cunt however.
I work for an IAC company (being spun off this quarter) and find the workplace to be extremely diverse at all levels of the company.
blackmistressdiva… the words chosen to describe your former boss reflects more of the employee you were than the management skills/style of your boss.
I didn't say anything about her mgmt skills, BCheeze. The fact that she was a miserable cunt has nothing to do with me and everything to do with her personal life. She was miserable before I got there and miserable after, but that's nothing you'd know since you actually don't know ANYTHING about my job/role/time there, right. Would you feel better if I said she was a psycho bitch? That doesn't have the same bite though, wouldn't you say?
Oh no. He should learn from his beard wife Diane von Furstenberg that women of color deserve the same opportunities as their white counterparts.
