SEXISM OR JUST ANTI-CLINTONISM? I'm thinking a combination of both. "While much has been written about the role that race and racial innuendo have played in Sen. Obama's candidacy, much more has been written about the role that sexism has allegedly played in Sen. Clinton's. From claims of overzealousness by male Obama supporters, to claims of bias in the media (as confirmed by the media authority known as Saturday Night Live) a number of Clinton supporters have argued, and she herself has inferred, that the barbs she has faced are rooted in the fact that she is a woman. What they all seem to have forgotten is that she is not just any woman… The reality is that Hillary Clinton was viewed as polarizing by a number of men and women long before she ever ran for president. The reasons why vary."

What you've said here is okay and not will ever know the truth. I'm just shocked that no one has addressed the following:

1. The current status of New Orleans.
2. Hunger, poverty and education, especially in the black community.
3. Unemployment
4. Disenfranchised black voters in Florida. Remember what happened there with the voting count?? Many black people will not vote.
5. Bringing the Troops home but making sure they get immediate treatment for PTSD.
6. Racism

Here's something that all of you should think about and it should be a nationwide law. Black people are the only group in America that has not be compensated for slavery, racism, lynching and your know the rest. So until we get properly recognized like the Jews, Japanese, Native Americans, it should be law that "NO MAN OR FEMALE OF COLOR SERVE OR FIGHT IN ANY WAR STARTED BY THE WHITEMAN" People you can't be a patriot to county who have killed your ancestors, culture and are still killing you today by keeping you down. So until they treat the black and brown with respect, f-n and down go to work. They want to apologize for slavery but nothing says I'm sorry like cash!

The fact that much has been written on both of these canddidates demographics while most people could not tell you what they stand for says a lot about the media's negative impact on the process. At the end of the day, whether or not his being a black male and whether or not she's a white female matter (and they do), the major social issues in this country are still ignored. SAxlerod has named only a few. We could go on and on here.

A lot of white people, especially white women, seem to hate Hillary. The meanest and most irrelevant criticisms I've heard have come from white liberal women in her age bracket, meaning my mom's friends and my friends' moms. I'm not going to psychoanalyze them. Hillary's got her flaws like everyone else but oddly enough, these aren't the flaws that most of her critics on her side of the political fence seem to bring up. Do they play a role in her campaign? Yes. Is it something we need to be discussing? Well, her campaign, political scientists, anthropologists and women's studies experts should care. Same goes for Obama's race. I know some of you probably care. I don't. As a black person, I presume there will be racially charged statements made and lots of issues of "cultural sensitivity" or lack thereof. I don't care. I would probably care if it was 96. I may have cared a bit in 2000. Same goes for Hillary's issues. Don't care. I think we've got enough major problems, new and ongoing, to occupy every minute of news time from now until election day. What they're going to do if we give them the opportunity is what's important and matching it up with their past actions. That matters.

Maybe it's that the talk of race and gender has showed me how backwards Americans are about both has got me completely fed up, and as a black woman, it's just too damn depressing and distracting from the issues that are newly impacting my life (economy/jobs/having money, whether my loved one will be sent to war again, whether other loved ones will be sent in 4 or 8 or 12 years because we didn't repair the damage we caused). Maybe it's that I actually want to hear about the issues and concrete plans.

I would be FAR more impressed if there were mid-east and military experts meeting to discuss realistic strategy for whoever wins because frankly (and many of you will disagree), I don't see smart solutions coming from any one. If you have even a decent grasp of the history and ongoing conflicts in the region, you'll probably agree that there's no "good" plan on the table.

ASBOLUTELY TRUE!

The Republican party hates the Clintons because they are the only Democrats that have beat them and are populists (equality for all, education, economy, etc.) things that Republicans don't want.

Hillary Clinton is a woman, and was a first lady, true. She dared be more than just a conventional first lady and worked her butt off for better pay & healthcare & jobs, women's rights, etc. A lot of feminists dislike her because she didn't leave Bill when he cheated. SO THE F-K WHAT? That's her business.

A lot of man (and women) dislike her because she is SMART and knows how to run this country with her right pinky.

So she's damned for staying with her man and she's damned for being smart and wanting to give non-rich Americans the quality of life and opportuntiies this nation can give to its citizens and residents - and has not as of 8 years ago.

Mama and Daria I have been trying to figure out why many non-black people have such a strong dislike for Hillary. The only WW in the media that I can think of who is hated more than Hillary, is Martha Steward. I come across a number of WM(Part blue-collar) who hate Martha Steward with a passion.

I think there is more to the hate than Hillary not leaving her husband when he cheated. I think some people are still smarting over Hillary researching and working to bring the universal healthcare bill into the house during Bill's first term as president. The dislike could also stem from the fact that until recently, Hillary has not been the type of woman who comes across as overly emotional on TV (a good thing).

I find it interesting how we can criticize other countries for being behind the times concerning gender equality, yet many countries have had female prime ministers and/or presidents. Countries such as Liberia, Germany, Venezuela, Pakistan, India, England, Finland, Jamaica, Canada, Panama, Ireland, Chile, Norway, France, Nicaragua, Iceland, Bangladesh(2 W), Turkey, Sri Lanka and The Philippines have all had female presidents or PMs.

I am sure there are a few more that I can not think of right now. Notice that some of those countries have a large Muslim population. Makes you wonder :)
