ABC News' John Quinones and his crack team of liars is back to make New Yorkers look calloused and cowardly, and to extrapolate some great truths about human instinct (but mostly just to make New Yorkers look like pussies).
For a special called em>What Would You Do? airing tonight on ABC, Quinones hired actors to portray public incidents of domestic violence. He then filmed the reactions of people who came across the scenes. The veteran newsman has done this a few times in the past, each time feigning shock when women by themselves walk right by raging men who are clearly unafraid of hurting women. But on tonight's episode, Quinones "[kicked] it up yet another notch" and made the fighting couples interracial. In one case, a white man berates a black woman, in another, a black man kicks his white girlfriend.
Watch above for specifics about what happened, but here's the gist: "As it turned out, race may have been a factor in terms of who intervened, and with which couple. Over two days of shooting, we noticed that women seemed less inclined to intervene when the abusive boyfriend was African-American and the victim white." Why? "African-Americans are stereotypically more aggressive than Caucasians … They [passersby] may have been more hesitant for that reason."
White people see blacks as angry and agressive. Nothing new.
It's too bad that a journalist can run around like some sort of sociologist doing uncontrolled studies and then infer conclusions after editing and most likely without expert opinions. I mean I haven’t watched the episode, so I’ll wait for it, but my doubts are high. This would actually be an interesting study, but would only be valid if it were more controlled, or had an actual institution or foundation to back it up.
I like how women were willing to step up for other women.
White fear of angry black men is a well documented truth.
Move along, nothing to see here.
I see nothing wrong with these "studies." They're actually accurate. Sociologists don't do these studies becuz they're usually trying to make minorities seem worse than they actually are. They don't like admitting that racism is very much ALIVE in our society. After all, how can America be racist… we have a black man as a presidential candidate… America's not racist… right?
Those two women who stepped in did exactly what they should have done - they spoke to the women, not the men. If they had addressed the men, the likelihood that the situation would have escalated would have increased dramatically. God bless them for doing the right thing. If only other people would follow their lead.
Okay so I'm watching the video thinking 'that is so wonderful how those women came to that black woman's rescue'.
Then the part came on with the black guy yelling at his white girlfriend and I thought 'oh shit, these people are about to call the cops on his ass, quick'. The hood didn't help either.
i'm glad we have strangers like those two women around!
Just had my first experience with angry black me in the new small town we moved it. Live next to or near black people all my life…but I've never seen anything like this. Hood rats playing gangster. the older folks tell us not to mind them, but they scare the white women!
Angry mother fuckers for sure!
