Former North Carolina Senator Jesse Helms was known for his racist campaigning, and in addition to this clear appeal to the we-hate-blacks-because-they-take-our-jobs crowd during the 1990 senatorial race against Harvey Gantt. In 1996, he also mailed 125,000 postcards to black neighborhoods warning residents that if they recently moved and didn't change their registration they would be committing voter fraud.
Harold Ford…he's just not white.
I think that's what they sanitized.
Racist crap like this is for lazy people. It's really effective though so I guess that's why people opt for it instead of valid criticism.
Do racists people really need “coded” appeals to vote a certain way? If they are already racist, then wouldn't they vote that way anyway in the privacy of a voting booth? Or are they too stupid to realize they are racist and must be reminded through "coded racist" ads - But if they really are that stupid, then are they really going to be able to pick up the "subtle coded" racist messages?
Is it wrong that when I read this “Wake up Alabama! Blacks vow to take over Alabama.” the first thought that sprang to mind is "Who would want Alabama?"
Just because the man dosent believe in racial quotas[ a idea i also staunchly am agaisnt] dosen't necessarily make him a racist. I understand the other ideas do make him racist but him disagreeing with giving people prefrential treatment because of their race, is not a racist idea
