An emotional Angela Bassett received her star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame yesterday, with her
Waiting to Exhale director, Forest Whitaker, her
Meet the Browns co-star, Rick Fox, her husband, Courtney B. Vance, and, of course, the Ike to her Tina, Laurence Fishburne, on hand to celebrate the occasion with her.
"Today my cup runneth over. I am crying now, I cried yesterday and the day before,"
she said during the reception. "Who would have thought that a little girl in pigtails from St. Petersburg, Florida, would grow up to find herself gazing at a star with her name on it, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? This day is so, so special to me."
A kind, smart, good actress whose name is not Halle Berry gets some positive attention? It doesn't happen everyday.

Congratulations to Angela Bassett! It's about time! I am loving her whole style from the hair, to the dress, to the shoes!
Yes…congrats to Mrs. Bassett!!! She has always been so beautiful…and a talented actress!
Congrats to her! Look at her beautiful babies! Look at those guns! I just remembered why I don't like Laurence Fishburne.
I had no idea Forest directed Waiting to Exhale.
Ach. I hate that Angela's success can never be mentioned without the mention of Halle's greater popularity. They are very different people. Angela and Halle's equivalents would be Forest Whitaker and Will Smith, Cate Blanchett and Reese Witherspoon, Blythe Danner and Goldie Hawn. Goldie won an Oscar for a role that was first given to Blythe Danner by the way. I love Angela and I love Halle. Both are beautiful, successful black actresses over forty. Major props to both!
WHAT!!!! She's just now receiving a star??? This is madness. Angela Bassett is one of the best black female actors out there (she's better than Halle). She's just not getting any good roles. I'm still mad she didn't win an oscar for playing Tina Turner.
