Anti-Gay Politico Rouson Gets Paper's Endorsement

St. Petersburg Times needs to check itself!

Today the paper endorsed state legislative hopeful Darryl Rouson. Many of you will remember Rouson for his taped declaration that homosexuality as "immoral." He also announced that gay adoption "sends a wrong message early to a child during formative years that’s hard to overcome just by sitting down and talking to them." Apparently the Times is alright with this.

If he's running in a majority Black district he'll probably win. Also Florida is amazingly backward so this doesn't surprise me. Thankfully I live in California!

I totally agree with him homosexuality is immoral and its about time a politician stood up for moral beliefs instead of just going with the okey doke to secure votes. Good for him!

Just read Romans 1 in the Bible. Believe it or not, some people still belive the Bible is God's word. Shocking, I know. That's probably what that is based off of.

I'm sorry, I find it hard to believe God would be against two people, consenting adults being in love, gay or straight. And the Bible excuse is getting old.

I had a conversation with a Haitian guy yesterday who made the same declaration, citing the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah. I wish I didn't have home training because I would have told him that fetishizing African women and fathering four kids with them are probably acts that God frowns upon. I'm Episcopalian so it's not in my nature to use the Bible as a weapon. Instead, I told him that loving other people is our duty and we should leave the judging to God.

i love how the morality police forget their own sin when condemning others…

…for ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God…

you can't choose what sins you like and the ones you don't. don't judge, because you didn't make the rules. i believe the is only ONE who can say what is immoral and none of you, or Mr. Rouson, is HIM.

@ That Chick: I agree. When will people realize that the Bible is not a fact book?

I really wish there weren't so many homophobic black people. It's really hard to help people when they hate you and think you're going to burn for all eternity in a lake of fire.

And why is a person only standing up for morality when they profess their hate for homosexuals? Isn't respecting the rights of all people more moral than taking away the rights of a group of people you personally hate?
