Aretha Franklin Has Her Eye On Halle Berry For Her Upcoming Biopic

No, really. She does.

And a movie?
For television. My autobiography, From These Roots. Hopefully it will happen early spring. I have verbal commitments from Billy Dee [Williams] to play my father, and Terrence Howard to play Smokey Robinson.

Who'll play you?
I'm not sure yet. Jennifer Hudson came to read for me. I also have an interest in Halle Berry possibly doing it. And Fantasia.

I mean no disR-E-S-P-E-C-T, but Halle Berry is pregnant and less than physically or vocally suited for Aretha's movie needs. Team J-Hud. On the less critical end, I can honestly think of no one who would be a better Smokey Robinson than the toilet paper bandit.

I am on Team J-Hud for that one, too, Lauren. See, Aretha needs to, as we say in BMD's world, "take that down" (as in…her paper thin ass motives are not fooling ppl) She just doesn't want a thick mama portraying her. I mean, she needs to put Halle far, far out of her mind. Halle can't even fucking sing and Celie..um..I mean Fantasia doesn't even have a resemblance. Jennifer would be perfect. She wouldn't even have to wear spanx for the role!

As far as who should play Smokey - you are dead on once again. The toilet paper bandit: wipe me down (but always from front to back)!

I think JHud did Aretha's song better than Aretha at some tribute thing. What a hater. Aretha used to be kinda pretty and eerily Beyonce-shaped. I'm sure there are a lot of 50-something and 60-something black men just shaking their heads at that one.
