Wow! What an incredibly BORING choice! Joe Biden = change? NOT! On the bright side; we can all sit back and wait for Joe Biden to say something offensive, but he won't really mean it.
Watch how many people refer to Joe Biden as the president. He's white… he's older…he's been in the Senate forever. Reporters are going to defer all their questions to him. Like in the picture…who looks like the VP? He's gonna end up being Barack's Clay Aiken and get his own Christmas special. Watch. lol
Ike: youuuuuuuuuuu GOT it. Joe Biden lends gravitas. All that rock star, sunglass-wearing, Jeremiah Wright, brush-your-shoulders-off stuff now has depth and meaning because Joe entered the picture. Older white men tend to do that in the eyes of white people. OK — they do that in the eyes of most people. Their very presence alone lends 'credibility' and 'weight.'
I was in the store just yesterday waiting to be rung up and this older white man walked in, walked up to a young, Black cashier behind his cash register and asked him — mid-transaction mind you — if they had any more D batteries. Now get this: not only did the cashier stop and w-a-l-k over to the battery section — I did say mid-transaction, right? — but about 3 people in the line also left the line to go help this man go look for some D batteries. Imagine my younger, Black female self commanding that much attention that people are leaving the cash register and their place in line to go help me.
Yeah… but anyway…. back to Joe…… youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu GOT it!
Obama is a total phoney, and this pick just proves it. He had a chance to have make history with Hillary, but his hate for her won over his reason.
So much for the "agent of change" rhetoric. Hello empty suit.
I also love how he chose Biden, a man who refered to him (while he was still in the race) as a "well spoken, a nice smelling black man, but not ready to be president".
This choice made me sad, less excited and I just couldn't understand why. All these reasons, I get, but the optimist in me wants to believe that there is a bigger picture.
Solitaire….you couldn't believe for one second he was going to pick Hillary! You must was drunk off the kool-aid. I believe if he picked Hillary he would have been a total phony to his supporters.
Yeah, no way he could have chose HRC. If he had that would have been PHONY! How could someone be punked into having to chose her..others would then call him weak. HRC supporters are just looking for a reason though…
Not thrilled, but I thought Biden was definitely the most likely. And who was he going to pick that wasn't an older white man? Certainly not Hillary- if you think it looks like Biden forgot who's VP and who's president, I can only imagine how Hill would look up there (and I voted for her).
Besides, when Biden said Obama was "clean and articulate", I assumed he was talking about his record and his speaking ability in contrast to pretty much everyone in Washington. With all the crap hitting the fan for elected officials these days, Obama looks more and more like the cleanest man in Congress. Thank goodness he's the nominee and not Edwards! And as for articulate, the fact that every sentence the current administration hasn't mangled has been pure double-speak makes it sound like a choir of angels sings every time Obama opens his mouth.
I don't have any great expectations for the Obama-Biden administration, but I'm really looking forward to being able to see and hear my president without getting nauseated.
It would have been a bit of dynamite for him to pick Hillary…I thought everyone knew that wasn't a real possibility? Let it sink in, and relax on it. Biden lends credibility to his campaign, given his background and history. The pick doesn't give me butterflies, but the other choices would've left me worried…
He would have won the elction if he picked Hillary. Joe Biden will do NOTHING for him in november. Obama is a complete PHONEY, and judging by his slip in the polls, people are finally cathing on to his empty rhetoric.
Joe Biden did'nt think he was ready to be president when he was running against him, and he still doesn't. Although I think he still sees Obama as "clean and articulate" for a black man.
I don't get this "He's not ready to be President" line I'm hearing from the PUMAS and Republicans. So you would rather go with McCain, who has lots of political experience (bad experience, mind you) and is most definitely ready to screw up our country even more?
Barack Obama may not have spent a lifetime in Congress, but he is highly educated, a Constitutional scholar, a man who said no to the tony law firm jobs so he could work on the streets of Chicago for the betterment of his people. He's also got a coalition of highly experienced and respected people to help him with the crises of our economic and foreign policy problems. He's a statesman, guys, as was witnessed by his trip overseas.
So, please, someone, tell me how he "isn't ready".
I respect your opinion but your statement that he would have won with Hillary has no basis. Senator Barack would have been damned if he picked her and damned if he didn't. Just as you supported Hillary and see what happened in the primaries from your perspective, Obama supporters see things from a different view. If he had chosen her, a lot of his supporters would have been as upset as you are that he didn't pick her due to the tone of her campaign during the primaries (again, realize you have to view perspective depending on which side you were rooting for). Also, I respect the Clintons as well as Hillary Clinton for (1) Bill Clinton's legacy as a president (he passed some very good legislation and stood up for affirmative action when it wasn't exactly a political winner) and (2) for Hillary's tenacity during the primary and the ceiling she helped to shatter for women. However, Obama proved to be a smart, competent, and inspirational candidate during his primary and HE WON! Thats the real story. There was a winner and he too made history not only by making it to the top during the primary but actually clinching the nomination. Why is it that he has something to prove? Why is it that his camp has to do all the apologizing and smoothing over? It was his choice to make and its about time for everyone to respect him for what he accomplished during the primaries. If Hillary was sooo experienced (as the others that were running) how did a 2 term senator break records that NO OTHER politician has ever broken (i.e. financial fundraising, number of voters, etc.)? You don't have to like him, you don't have to vote for him, but I get the feeling that a lot of hillary supporters do not even show him the respect that he deserves.
The bottom line for me is that Barack Obama's ideals/agenda are more in line for what I want, for what I want for the country. The middle class is suffering, I want someone who will address that. The NY Times has a fantastic article on Obama's economic policies, the contrast between his and McCain's. Bottom line, middle class people will begin to catch a break, women will most certainly benefit, and reproductive rights will be protected.
Politics is not perfect, and you cannot expect it to be. Because everything doesn't go exactly your way doesn't mean that it's a complete failure. Where is the logic, the overall anaylzation?
My parents were still out on Obama until a) he picked Biden and b) Michelle Obama really impressed them. They're middle-class, middle-aged white folks, and while they would never vote for McCain, Obama's VP pick made them feel a lot better about casting their vote for him. They liked Biden before, and thought he might run for president himself someday. I never thought Biden was "presidential" material, but he's extremely well connected, so I do think he'll make a good VP. And my mom has a thing about candidates' wives- if they bother her, she won't enjoy voting for their husbands. So that's a pair of hard-sell voters added to Obama's tally…
I am NOT excited about this pick.
What.
The.
Hell …

what were you guys expecting? lol
I like him, he was very good in the debates.
So much for diversity….

I'm w/ the 1st person, not excited either.
"When I said Sasha and Malia were my two most wonderful niglets in the whole world, I didn't realize that the term niglet was offensive."
Other predictions as to the major foot in mouth moment coming in the next few weeks? My bets on 10 days actually.
At least he picks someone who thinks he is clean and articulate unlike Jesse Jackson. Remember that one early in the election process???
was i the only one who didn't receive the text?
@J:
That's probably why Obama chose him. He's whiter… he's older… and he's been in the Senate forever. It'll make the white folks feel safer

I'm just glad it isnt Hillary!
