Barack Obama wins South Carolina! Oh, we all already knew that would happen. But we didn't know he would trounce the competition with 55 percent of the vote. Hillary Clinton got 27 percent, and John Edwards rounded out the bottom with 18 percent.
The Clintons sought to downplay their opponent's victory as they moved on to campaign in Tennessee. I've largely ignored and/or minimized the racial controversy surrounding the Clintons because — although I think they definitely need to watch their language — I never honestly felt that they were trying to use race to minimize Obama. But this comment from Bill Clinton really disappointed me:
Those black South Carolinians are willing to vote for any old (or young) black guy, aren't they? Thanks for helping us draw the connection, Mr. President.
Check out part two of Obama's victory speech after the jump.
Shit!Wow, this is good! Do you guys think he will really GET it though??

Exacly, no matter what is political views are, cause lets face it, most of them don't have a fucking clue…… DANCE PUPPETS, DANCE!!!!
@ kilo
I guess Iowans vote in that same fashion, right? Those who granted Obama the Nevada electoral vote also choose candidates in that same fashion, right?
I don't think it's fair to discredit Obama. Billary's running a filthy campaign & many ppl can see right through it.
1. Race baiting
2. Bubba claiming that Obama put a hit job on him
3. Playing semantics with the Reagan praise as though they weren't praising his ideas in that Tom Brokaw book
4. Allgning themselves with Bob "BET" Johnson, Andrew Young, the like who base Blackness on dating patterns
5. Calling out Obama for Rezco as if Vince Foster didn't commit suicice due to the stress of Whitewater & acting like their friends didn't do a bid for them. One of them died of a heart attack cuz the prison wouldn't allow him to have his meds.
6. Discrediting the legwork of MLk which in turn also discredits Coretta Scott King, Medgar Evers, Rosa Parks, etc.
I don't think Obama will win though. There are still too many Americans in this country that would love to see him hanging from a tree in their front yard.
Anonymiss - That was a good article you wrote, but then you spoiled its content with a lack of vision/lack of confidence/lack of resolve.
Blacks have done the impossible throughout American history, considering that it's strange that so many White American actually have a greater belief in a Black man being president than many Blacks, could this be a subconscious feeling of not being worthy?
Jesse Jackson was being interviewed by the BBC News about Barack Obama's Presidency run, he made his usually inane statements and lodged a lot of blame on Obama, so at the end if the interview the interviewer said "after this interview I am now, not sure a Black man is ready to be President of the United States"
How bad are you when you are able to convince someone who started out believing and friendly to your cause, to change against you.
TruthTeller -
I want the right candidate to be in office as much as anybody & I believe that Obama has the potential. I just can't ignore the sheer racism. Even the Clintons & the media can't ignore the sheer racism as they are feeding into it on the reg.
As far as feeling worthy, there are a lot of Blk ppl in this country with a destroyed spirit. Willie Lynch did a number on our psyches. Other factors are the fear for Obama's life (i.e., Chris Rock's Bring the Pain), he's not "Black enough" cuz of his Irish & Kenyan ancestry, & because many Blks are in love with Bill Clinton.
If Obama's experience is a factor, I think it's a valid factor but then you also have to consider the shitty choices Hillary's made while in the Senate. I mean, the current Bush admin is "experienced" & look at the wonderful job that they've done thus far.
Last week, I saw some crap on BET where they were talking about Obama & Hillary. Bonsu Thompson from XXL said that he's not impressed with Barack because a president has to offer more than "charisma and a huge vocabulary." Aren't those the 2 things that makes Slick Willy slick though? Michael Moore called Bill out on his lip service in Stupid White Men.
And shame on Jesse, Andrew Young, & Charles Rangel with their crabs in the barrel asses. They're only salty with Obama cuz he can stand on his own two. Obama didn't rise in the ranks through the Old Civil Rights Club so he owes them nathan.

Whether Bill was slick with his words, doesn't mean Obama isn't slick. That's not a good deflection. Just b/c Bill was slick doesn't mean people are turned off by what many people see as someone big on pretty words, but short on substance. That argument, by the way wasn't started by the Clintons. It's something a lot of people feel about Obama. Right or wrong.

I don't recall making a deflection but I do recall pointing out the selective hearing/memory of some Hillary supporters. If you don't feel that applies to you, then it simply doesn't apply. I just find it funny how ppl are judging Obama for the same things that Slick Willy is guilty of yet not making note of him doing so.
And I never claimed that the slick talk was started by the Clinton camp.
Obama may be a great and powerful orator but he's also a man with more legislative experience than Hillary. Why are his achievements outside of DC discounted? He worked in the community, was a law professor and a state senator in Illinois. He did it himself and his claim to fame isn't that he married someone or he had a rich daddy. If we want to talk about experience then let's talk about it fairly and let's not give Hillary an edge because she was married to the President.
