Beyonce, Jay-Z, And The Spirit of Lindsay Lohan Hung Out In Brooklyn

beyoncejayz.jpg

Between Beyonce's singing, dancing, and cheering and Jay-Z's jovial Lindsay-Lohan-is-addicted-to-cocaine (so original!) jokes, the taping of Jay-Z's new VH1 American Gangster special was a thrill a minute.

Knowles was hanging out in the back of Brooklyn's Steiner Studios – dancing and cheering to every song during Jay-Z's nearly two hour taping. As he performed the songs from his upcoming American Gangster album, Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter) took the audience on a narrative tour of the inspiration behind each song.

Jay-Z appeared rather jovial and joked with the audience: "Can I get my Lindsay Lohan on?" before launching into a new track about "addictions to the game" called "Sweet." Laughing about his own comment, Jay-Z then asked, "That's too far, huh? They're gonna have to edit that out."

Bootleg Josephine Baker. It's not that I don't expect celebs to copy from the library of things that have been done. I'm just always surprised when Beyonce does it, particularly with songs and dance routines (see BET awards Kylie Minogue show). At this point, I think it's fair that the public expects her to be original. It's not her fault per se. She obviously has some whack a– people working for her. I wonder what happened to the choreographer for the BET show. That video was priceless.

This picture is old — I just used it to illustrate the post. But I'm pretty sure her outfit was meant to be an obvious homage to Josephine Baker, not a sly copycat move.

I'm personally not a fan of the banana dance thing. She danced almost nude and while she was a great entertainer, I still frown on exploitative crap, even if you're the one doing the exploiting. It's not something to pay homage to.

Anyway, in my view, she should be doing her own signature stuff now. It's hard I'm sure, but when you're a mega star, that's a fair expectation.

The Bible says that Beyonce can do NO WRONG. Psalms. Read it.
