In other Bey movie news, she starts filming a thriller called Obsessed with Idris Elba — as her husband — and Ali Larter this summer. If you're wondering how this new role came about, I should add that Beyonce and Mathew Knowles are executive producing. And while Jay-Z's probably too cocky to be worried, he might want to watch out for those upcoming intimate scenes between his woman and Mr. Elba. Just sayin'.

I don't think the MUA and wig worker did a terrible job. Looks ok to me. I mean, it's hard to judge before you see it on film, ya know?
She looks just as tacky as Etta to me.
So far so good as far as i'm concerned.
Why couldn't they have used Kimberly Locke or Frenchie Davis to play this role. They need someone heavier-set and who's not wooden to be Etta. Beyonce is not all that as an actress; they could have let Adrien Brody carry this movie.

i've just washed american idol and i think amanda overmeyer (sp?) should play Etta. She's got the voice, tackiness, and bizarre root situation happening.

I don't care how well trick cameras work, Beyonce is not the 1 to play Etta James, & 2 those sleepin on Etta's voice, vocal range, the beauty & history of her music, I'm startin 2 realize y the world is as it is. They always tryna get Beyonce 2 play every rol like she the only 1 who's capable, always tryna keep her n the spotlight. Jus like they tried 2 soup her up n Dreamgirls, but after my girl Jennifer Hudson came & stole the show, they couldn't deny that her absolute talent REALLY carried the movie. Jill Scott could have been much more believable or yes, Kimberle Lock. But Bey? Please! Ray Charles would have known that wouldn't work!
