The Rush Hour franchise is losing a bit of it's steam, if the fact that the third installment made $50 million in its opening weekend instead of $70 million is any indication. Instead of Rush Hour 4, perhaps Chris Tucker should try moving on to another series of movies to make exclusively for 10 years. Then again, he made $25 million for RH3
Cuba Gooding, Jr., who certainly made nowhere near $25 million for his role in Daddy Day Camp, is probably disappointed to see that his film only made $3.5 million. But probably not as disappointed as the people who actually paid good money to see it.
Movie, # of Weeks In Theaters, Weekend Gross (millions)
1. Rush Hour 3, 1, $50.2
2. The Bourne Ultimatum, 2, $33.6
3. The Simpsons Movie, 3, $11.1
4. Stardust, 1, $9
5. Underdog, 2, $6.4
6. Hairspray, 4, $6.3
7. I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, 4, $5.9
8. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, 5, $5.3
9. No Reservations, 2, $3.9
10. Daddy Day Camp, 1, $3.5
It's absurd that it made that much money. And $25 M?! Do Will, Forrest, etc. even make that kind of money?! Well, they pay for box office gold, not talent. That's why Tom Cruise is rich after all.
Gawd. Who saw that movie?? Damned fly over country! LOL.
Rainman, Magnolia, Born on the 4th of July, Jerry Maguire, Interview with the Vampire, Collateral, etc….I'd say Tom Cruise is pretty talented.
Tom Cruise brings in ticket sales. That doesn't make him talented. That just means people like him. Probably the same people who are seeing Rush Hour 3. I don't think you can possibly equate talent and likability.
I'm not equating talent and likability. I'm saying that I think he's a talented actor. He doesn't always pick the best movies, but he can act. Actually, with all of his Scientology bullshit, sometimes I don't find him that likable. Magnolia and Born on the 4th of July weren't big box office successes, but his brief role in Magnolia was his best ever IMHO. Fucking brilliant. If you look at his filmography as an actor, most of his films haven't been box office blow outs (as we know them). That started with Mission Impossible and Jerry Maguire which both came out in the same year ('96). He was acting long before '96. I know a lot of ppl who think Tom is talented. We just disagree on Mr. Cruise that's all.
…and back to our regularly scheduled programming:
!@#$$^ Rush Hour 3.
LOL.
