The National Black Republicans Association has gone to a place where the RNC and John McCain certainly never could and no one ever should. The association has released two racially-inflammatory, misleading, and likely ineffective ads in an attempt to convince black voters that the Democratic party is full of Klansmen and (dead?) segregationists and that Barack Obama doesn't give a shit about them. Subtlety is not the NBRA's strong suit. Neither is the production of political ads. Never in the course of the two ads do the narrators explain — to what I can only assume is a highly unimpressionable audience of black, Democratic voters — whether or not there are any racists in the Republican party (there are!) and why it's in black voters' best interest to vote for John McCain (do tell!) and not just against the black Democrat.
Watch it yourself. Let me know if you're not convinced to join the GOP (or are happy that you are already a proud member).
One of my best girl friends is a black republican. She loves Obama, but will not be voting for him. Seriously, I get glowing emails from her about BO's story, but when asked if she's come to the dark side (no pun intended) she says, hell no.
She and I do not talk politics or religion b/c we'd fall out very quickly.
lol@picture of carlton banks!! hhahaha
anyways, no I will never be a republican. I dont care what those people claim but republicans have never cared about minorities, the poor, and women. And since I am all three, they really dont give a shit about me!
lmao. thanks for the chuckle.
The second commercial lists all of these things that makes Obama anti-black (like voting no on minimum wage) as if the Republican party is any better! If anything, the commercial is a list of reasons why Republican should vote for him! (I doubt what they say about Obama's voting record is true, but still.)
I think this is pretty sad, actually. Divide and conquer…
cosign with simplestuff.
They are a bunch of disingenuous hacks. They really need to stop assuming all Black folks are ignorant of political history and we somehow don't know that ideologically the parties swapped political positions so while MLK et al… may have been Republicans THEN, their political alignment was the ideology of the now Democratic party and the then democratic party was dominated by the Dixiecrats led by pro-segregationist(but not in his bedroom) Strom Thurmond who all became Republicans in th early 60s…..
Blk Republicans are a joke (well at least the ones I've encountered). It's like their republicans just so they aren't put in the same category as other blks (or as my friend would say: Blk folks tryin to be white) lol.
Nah. I don't think it has to do with ppl trying to be white. I would normally agree with you Ike, but sometimes ppl are just different. My homegirl's ppl are Creoles from the Gentilly party of NOLA and she grew up with most ppl in her family being Dems. Her father was a NOPD officer for years and he, too, is a republican for whatever reason? I used to think it's b/c she is fairly well off (high paid lawyer and RE broker), but that doesn't explain her father. She is a devout Catholic (shhhh…do you hear that? That's me gagging) so she's pro-life and is never interested in helping the downtrodden unless it's related to church outreach. She goes to Africa every October with her church and helps build churches. CHURCHES!!!??! My hypocrite-o-meter blares like a siren at the very thought! I mean, fuck a church! Give them condoms!!!! LMAO!
Needless to say, black repubs get a MAJOR side eye from me!
Well, you've all pretty much said it.
Would Nixon or even Ford be considered Republicans by today's standards?
I know people are different. I can't speak for all of them, (even if the ones I've met are idiots) I was just repeating what a friend of mine said.
What in the Ben Vereen Heck was that?
@BlackMistress Diva - Eff a church? Really?
@Everyone - No one stand too close to BMD during a thunderstorm…
I'm registered as a Democrat when I was 18 because that what my parents were. The older I get and the more I read, I realize that the parties are practically one and the same. They differ a bit, but neither makes real change. Within each party you can find a group that doesn't quite tow the party line on a particular issue. Party affiliation is just a fundraising tool. Democrat, Republican, Independent, whatever - just vote for the candidate that you think is best.
I actually am not opposed to some conservative viewpoints, but like BlackMistressDiva, i give the side eye. I don't think I'll ever call myself a Republican. Dems aren't Saints either, and have certainly disappointed people before, but really, I cosign SweetDiva.
led by pro-segregationist(but not in his bedroom) Strom Thurmond
*Vows to never return to this blog ever ever again because of ^^^*
I'm not a Republican but I am a moderate conservative. I hate political parties and those who are loyal beyond reason to them. See, I vote for both Republicans and Democrats…simply put, I vote for who has the best plans, ideas, etc. for this country. Like voting is SUPPOSED to be.
Additionally,I hate folks who call Republicans out on their bullshit without acknowledging Democrat's bullshit. Both parties have the ability to be racists. Republicans are more overt with their racism. Ex. Pat Buchancan(however it is spelled, I don't care), Bill O'Reilly, and Everyone at Fox News, etc. While Democrats are more covert with their racism. Ex. Bill Clinton, Joe Biden, and pretty much all your beloved Democratic politicians including the CBC. White Liberals and Liberals period feel they can say racist remarks and get away with it because they are Liberal, and supposedly for all the little people.
NBRA are just a bunch of modern day Sambos
So what are black people that support the war in Iraq, do not want gay marriage, legal abortion and stem cell research. Care little about global warming, and wear their religion on the sleeves supposed to do?
Join the Democratic party just beacuse they are black?
Level of pigmentation does not bare an effect of political views, not all blacks have the same experience.
Nothing wrong with being a black republican.
There is a problem with being a republican in general though
The odd thing is that the Republican advert. is probably correct. Southern Dems. blocked civil rights laws for almost 100 years and very few northern Dems. did anything about civil rights. It was during Ike's administration that color barriers were first broken down using federal laws and federal troops. Earl Warren was appointed to the supreme court by IKE!! JFK courted southern Dems in order to get elected and did nothing for civil rights, and RFK let the FBI spy on MLK. GO FIGURE.
