Good news: The CW's new 90210 actually has a black character!

Bad news: Said black character is in Beverly Hills because he was adopted by a wealthy white family and given a "better life."

Looks like they are basically trying to make a west coast version of Gossip Girl and they're going to throw the 90210 brand on it, so it looks like they didn't steal the idea.

Who cares?? This sh.it will be canceled within the first 3 episodes. Who needs regurgitated ideas when you've got reruns?

Speaking of Aaron Spelling's leftovers, can you believe that there is a queue for Dynasty at the Boston Public Library?! How am I supposed to perfect my Alexis Carrington or my Dominique Devereaux impressions?

You mean to tell me that the producers refuse to believe that a legitimately rich black teenager can exist in 90210. That the only way to have one is to maintain the status quo with the tired story line of the black kid who is adopted by rich white parents or maybe the black child who is bussed in a la Andrea the poor little Jew girl. At the very least they could give us the black kid who is the offspring of a famous rapper, now that's believable.

I think I'll stick to Gossip Girl. At least they don't even try to put a storyline on where the one black girl on the show comes from so I can at least assume she is as rich or richer than the white kids on the show.

forgive me for being a ignorant fool but does that mean is character is going to speak with an ultra nasally voice.

Daria it's bad enough that movie industry is nothing but a bunch of regurgitated ideas, now the TV industry has started this mess.

Any child that is adopted is given a better life by the family they are adopted by. He is a main character, that is a great thing.
There is also a character with middle eastern decent

There is a significant Persian community in Beverly Hills and its neigbor to the west around UCLA, Westwood. Misrepresentation strikes again! No wonder some people are shocked to see ethnic diversity in L.A.

Because no Black people could be simply wealthy enough to live in BH and send their kid to public school……ridiculous …of course said Black family would likely have raised their kids with some couth (unless its Snoop and co…) so by adopting him, they can let him be a lil thuggish and have an explanation……

I can't even believe they're trying to "reinvent" 90210, probably one of the shallowest television shows of my youth & adding a black character who no less was ADOPTED by a white family? Who do they think they're kidding? I know black families live in the 90210. Anyway, the CW is garbage IMHO.

This is nothing new. As long as 55 year old White men control television/ the media you will have their vision of who we are. These men grew up watching Different Strokes and Webster and they think this is normal. Most don't have any real interaction with actual Black people.
