Celebrating Stereohyped's One-Year Anniversary

HOLIDAYS & SPECIAL OCCASIONS

We love nothing more than a holiday or a theme week/month at Stereohyped. Let's reminisce:

• Ah, Blackface: There was the examination of the ever-present blackface Halloween costumes.

• Stereohyped's First Christmas = Excuse to post gratuitous baby pictures of myself.

• A Daily Dose of Black History: You guys appreciated this far more than I thought you would, which made me appreciate you guys even more than I already did, if that makes any sense.

• Black Model Watch: We watched the runways for black models during Fashion Week this year, and were predictably disappointed.

• Happy New Year: 2007's highlights and lowlights.

• Hair: It was a theme of my own design, prompted by the reaction to this post. I talked to some cool people and had fun sharing the stories with you.

Happy Birthday Stereohyped!!!! I've been a fan since it started. I am actually using some info from your Interview with Lori Tharps on her book about black hair and its history in america, for my term paper in my Black Women in the U.S. course. I love this site, it has the great balance of gossip combined with politics and great topics that are relatable and spark great debates with comments (especially the interacial dating posts, and the "Am I Black Enough for ya"). Keep up the good work.

Happy Birthday Stereohyped/Lauren!!! I am SO proud of you and this site. Stereohyped has been a great addition to my life (but no so much to my work productivity). I looked through the archives today and you have done SOOO much with this blog in the past year!!! I look forward to even bigger things from Lauren Williams in the next year.

And since you asked…..I think the first piece of greatest you can do this year is incorporate your Le Cordon Blue schooling (thanks Nichelle) into this blog. Some of us undomisticated women need great receipes and wine choices for when we try to fake like we can cook. Just a suggestion.
