Many of the guests were different at last year's Poiret-themed Costume Insitute Gala and the Superhero-themed fete two days ago — Rihanna's on tour this year, Nick Cannon and Selita Ebanks weren't hugged up on the red carpet for obvious reasons, and Jennifer Hudson is so 2007 — the fashion was different, too.

Some of the 2007 gowns were better than the 2008 ones, and some weren't.

One thing's for sure, Iman's outfit from this week's gala trumps last year's tux.
