May is graduation month, and I’ll be shuttling back and forth from NYC to DC to celebrate these joyous occasions with friends and family. Friday, a dear family friend graduated from Marshall University’s med school, Saturday, one of my best friends graduated from Howard’s Law School, and next weekend my brother-in-law snags his MBA from Georgetown. And, although I won’t be attending her graduation, we all know that Vanessa Williams finally graduates from Syracuse University sometime this month. It got me thinking — what black celebs got their degrees pre-fame? Below is a representative sample.
um, hey hill harper, how you doin’?
^^^ I totally agree!
I’m so proud of all our graduates!
Co-sign about the grads, Jaime. Yay for us!
I did not know David Banner had a degree! Guess you cant judge a book by its cover. Or statements in his case!!
Thanks for the shout out sis!

Neenee, I read somewhere that David Banner was working on a MA too.
I love Harper Hill. John Legend graduated high school at 16. Ryan Leslie also graduated high school at 16. Ryan Leslie is a graduate of Harvard.
Add to the list actor Ntare Mwine (who played probation officer Maurice Deveraux on FX’s “The Riches” this past season as well as a roll in the film “Blood Diamond” and writing/directing and staring in the play and film “Biro”). He got a B.A fromthe University of Virginia and an MFA from NYU.
what summer said.
According to Wikipedia, he’s single. Shot gun!
I’d like to add that David Banner aka Lavell Crump was the Student Government Association president at Southern University. One of the best student administrations yet. Go Jags!
