For those of you who mentally check out a little early on the Fridays before three-day weekends, today marks the start of Memorial Day weekend. And to commemorate the start of Memorial Day weekend, I'm commemorating the soldiers whose contributions to this country's wars are often overlooked.

Ahhh!!! These pics are GREAT! I love them!
These guys are soo goodlooking! The one you chose esp as the main one….
Sigh…
Even in war - we stunt on lames. (look it up)
That main picture is awesome. Would make a great picture to blow up and frame. I soooo want to 'caption this' for the dude standing tallest with his hat cocked to the front. Too fly! He is reminding me of Andre 3000 for some reason???
Powerful ad. Very well done.
since when does murdering tens of thousands of innocent vietnamese and cambodian civilians in a racist war make you a hero? many people have made the assessment that the actions of US troops in southeast asia, where entire villages were systemically annihilated with napalm, qualifies as a genocide. why should these crimes against humanity be glorified in any way, for any reason?
Fri-
The Vietnam War is not being glorified. The soldiers were mostly drafted, and even if they weren't, they are merely the messenger. Their courage and devotion is laudable. You're not supposed to shoot the messenger… I mean, in war the other side is… but the policy makers should be the ones critisized. Soldiers are carrying out decisions made by politicians. They should be celebrated. It's unfortunate because so many Americans began blaming the troops for the Vietnam War instead of the truly guilty. Fools who thought being against an unconstitutional war meant demonizing American heroes humiliated so many soldiers.
Very well said, ilnazhad.
ilnazhad, so you're saying that serving in the vietnam war should be celebrated because they were just following orders? since when is that something heroic? i don't care if someone else told them napalm villages full of children, that's no excuse, not on a moral level and not according to international human rights law.
the soldiers who should be celebrated are the ones who resisted taking part in war crimes, the ones who bravely tried to stop it. but that's in spite of the fact that they're soldiers, just honoring someone because they put on a uniform, are given a gun, and do what they told is disgusting. we might as well honor the nazis who just followed orders or the cops who killed sean bell.
