David Alan Grier's sketch-comedy news show, Chocolate News, is joining Comedy Central's lineup starting October 15th. As the title indicates, Grier will be bringing the pop culture humor from an African American perspective and, "in addition to serving as the acerbic, all-knowing, in-studio host, will also portray multiple characters within the series' investigative reports, which will be presented by a cast of three correspondents." Check out a clip after the jump.
Pretty skeptical about this show, it looks like they're reaching for another Chappelle's Show and it just can't be done.
I just hope he doesn't get into the tomming that Dave Chapele and Chris Rock have. Chris really rode us that year he hosted the Oscars.
This doesn't look funny
My husband actually worked on the show for a couple of episodes, and he said that it was funny. I'm hoping they go more with the "news" aspect and stay away from Chapelle-like sketches like the one about. I guess we'll see next week.
wtf does this have to do with news from an african american perspective? (whatever that is.) a black comedian playing a pimp is about as fresh as a black comedian playing a black woman.
lemme know when black people are being smart on tv. thanks.
Uhhhhhhh….this is kind of depressing.
I co-sign with #5 and will stick with the Daily Show.
i just wish it were daily and topical, like the daily show.
