Rep. Geoff Davis, the Kentucky congressman who let his true colors shine on through yesterday when he called Barack Obama, who is three years his junior "that boy," has apologized for his "poor choice of words" and promised that he did not mean to "impugn [Obama] or [his] integrity." First of all, yeah right. Second of all, this isn't so much about integrity being questioned as it is about Davis being, or at least acting like, a racist idiot. And that's a lot harder to apologize for. His sincere words of regret are after the jump.
Dear Senator Obama:
On Saturday night I gave a speech in which I used a poor choice of words when discussing the national security policy positions of the Presidential candidates. I was quoted as saying "That boy's finger does not need to be on the button."
My poor choice of words is regrettable and was in no way meant to impugn you or your integrity. I offer my sincere apology to you and ask for your forgiveness.
Though we may disagree on many issues, I know that we share the goal of a prosperous, secure future for our nation. My comment has detracted from the dialogue that we should all be having on legitimate policy differences and in no way reflects the personal and professional respect I have for you.
Sincerely
Geoff Davis
"Boy" just flew out of his mouth faster than what he really wanted to say, but the N-word has two sylabbles so his dense mind chose the easier word with the same meaning.
Seems like Barack is turning everyone into a racist.
seems like peoples true colors are showing lol
Really, does any of these comments from supposedly intelligent people suprise us?
@bmd: Obama's brilliance is exposing existing racism.
Geoff Davis,Lou Dobbs, and others' ignorance is receiving more attention because they are hella scared of a black Executive (and possibly Cabinet).
their Angst both makes them say things without thinking AND deliberately use language to rally racialist people into a similar state of fear.
sunshine is the best disinfectant. shine on, Obama!
