Denzel Washington's Golden Globes

Denzel Washington is on the road to some sort of Oscar nomination, if the attention American Gangster and The Great Debaters have been getting is any indication. The two films were nominated for Best Motion Picture Golden Globes, and Washington received a nod for his portrayal of Frank Lucas.

Other notables nominations: Hairspray for Best Comedy/Drama, Angelina Jolie in A Mighty Heart for Best Actress (gag), and 30 Rock for Best Television Comedy. The show airs January 13th. Check out all the nominees after the jump.

they all are… If you've ever seen the movie "Eve's Bayou", then you might remember the girl in the middle of the pic.

No Country for Old Men should win best pic. I was a bit hesitant to see the film b/c I'd read the book and I'm always disappointed by screen adaptations, but it lives up to the book and more. One of the best American movies made in years. The Cohen Bros. should win for best direction.

30 Rock and it's nomicated actors should also take home awards.

The little girl from Eve's bayou (great film) has grown up to be a very beautiful woman.

As far as the GG's go, some of those noms are straight up bizarre. The foreign journalists who make up the voters, are clearly star struck. How else to explain Angelina Jolie's nomination.

I think the nominations are good. I never saw A Mighty Heart so I can't comment, but I recall how my fellow Stereohypers felt about it. LOL.

I'm going to see I'm Not There this weekend. I hear it's pretty good.

I've already seen The Great Debaters (the three kids above as the kids on the college debate team) and it is WONDERFUL. Denzel should get an Oscar nod for directing. I won't hold my breath, knowing the Academy, but it is a stellar film.

The little girl from Eve's Bayou is Jurnee Smollett, and hopefully her career will take off.

Yes, that's Jurnee Smollett. Apparently she's been taking her time and waiting for a QUALITY role. Good for her!

I would love to see her as Lena Horne, but apparently Alicia Keys (a singer more than an actor - but still love her!) has that locked up - with Oprah as producer no less.

Maybe Jurnee can talk to Halle about playing Philippa Schuyler… if Alicia can't do it after all.

Jurnee Smollett has grown to become a very beautiful woman who carries herself with class and grace and I understand a "dynamite" personallity. Oprah had the entire cast on her show and Jurnee is gorgeous. I'm sure we'll be seeing and hearing alot more from her. True talent is unstoppable.
