If religion doesn't curb other unhealthy behaviors in black youth, why assume religion will too? Black men are far more likely to commit suicide than black women. Black women are actually least likely of any gender-race group to commit suicide which I think has a lot more to do with culture than religion. Black women are also one of the groups most likely to be depressed. Take from that what you will.
