Duke Lax Accuser Pens Memoir

"The woman at the center of the scandal that rocked Duke University, Durham and the lives of the three lacrosse players she accused of raping her is coming out with a book. 'The Last Dance for Grace: The Crystal Mangum Story' is scheduled for publication in early October, according to Vincent Clark, a representative for Fire! Products Inc., a film studio that is representing her. Magnum [sic] will donate $1 from the purchase of each book to help battered women, Clark said."

I think she may need psychological help.

So after all this, she's yet to get help for her mental illnesses? Isn't that what they used to cast doubt in the first place?

I loathe false accusers as they make it so much harder for the MANY women who are actually rape survivors but I've really tried not to hold any hostility towards her because it seemed like she's mentally ill, not malicious or opportunistic. Now I have to wonder…

Agree with the above. Some people truly have no shame. She did truly lasting harm to every woman who's ever been raped and was too afraid to come forward. Shame on her and all of the idiotic black folks who continued to support her even in the face of the dna evidence.

why just the black folks who continued to support her? there was plenty of support from many even after dna proved otherwise.

it saddens me that the two most high profile cases of rape in black women have turned out to be false. I'm guessing black women underreport to begin with and it's less likely to be picked up by the national media unless it is particularly salacious and it's a slow news day. dunbar village victim anyone? it's amazing to me that al & jesse are quick to support black women only when white people are the people who have harmed the. al even spoke in support of the accused in the dunbar village case, stating that they should be released on bail.

She did harm to the rape survivors, to the young men that were accused, the prosecutor who put his career on the line on the strength of her story, and the cast a shadow over the entire Duke community. Glad she wrote a book and I hope somebody buys it. Just because I want the accused guys to be able to sue her and take all her profits. There is no way she should profit from her wrongdoing.

Sweetdiva, who would buy it anyway? This is not OJ Simpson we're talking about. This is just putting more trash out there that will mostly be ignored except by Tucker Carlson who called her a "crypto hooker" which I found inappropriate and still do. Apparently, he was accused of rape by a woman he'd never met while he was in college as well so maybe he's sensitive about the subject.

I want to add that although she may have lied about being rapped, something awful happen in frat that house on the night in question. She and the other dancer locked themselves in the closet because they were fearful

mjolnir202- I saw many nonblks supporting her too.

I wasn't sure if the other stripper ended up confirming her story.

Honestly, as much as I feel for anyone who's falsely accused of such a heinous crime, the fact that they had said a bunch of racist crap to the girls ("thank your grandpa for my cotton shirt" etc. according to the neighbors) makes it easier to swallow. When I read about the Tawana Brawley case, I was LIVID. When I read this case, a combo of her mental illness and their actions that night really dull my sympathy towards them though I'm still highly pissed at the disservice she's done all rape survivors
