Eddie should have known that when Melanie Brown and uber-attorney Gloria Allred started having conspicuous, paparazzi-recorded lunches that the fun and games were over. And they are. Yesterday, the scorned woman held a press conference calling out Eddie Murphy for his deadbeat ways and announcing that she's filed a paternity suit and plans to ask the court for child support.
"Murphy was promising to do the right thing, but to date he has not done the right thing," said Allred. "Mr. Murphy can have all the babies he chooses to have, but his responsibility needs to be to his own children. [Brown] is seeking sole physical and legal custody."
Still, Allred said Brown would be happy to arrange for Murphy to see his daughter regularly "like millions of parents do."
"He bought a big diamond ring for his new fianceƩ," added Allred, referring to Murphy's recent engagement to girlfriend Tracey Edmonds. "It is nice to be generous to others, but what about his own baby?"
I know that I have absolutely no clue as to what goes on behind closed doors with Edmonds and Murphy (nor do I want to, ew), but I get the sense that she is not in any way pressing him to do the right thing here. I guess that makes them perfect for each other.
