Vanilla Ice, born Robert Van Winkle
In Music:
Shay with a guage and Vanilla with a nine
Reading for the chumps on the wall
The Chumps are acting ill because they're so full of eight balls
Gunshots ranged out like a bell
I grabbed my nine–
All I heard were shells
Fallin on the concrete real fast
Jumped in my car, slammed on the gas
Bumper to bumper the avenue's packed
I'm tryin to get away before the jackers jacke
Police on the scene
You know what I mean
They passed me up, confronted all the dope fiends
In Life: Vanilla Ice's meteoric rise to the top of the pop charts in the early 90s was matched only by his meteoric fall. Fickle fans soon found out that his story of a hard childhood on the tough streets of Miami was fabricated. He was just a kid from the Dallas suburbs named Robert Van Winkle. At the time, he also said he won three motorcross championships, although there was no evidence to back up those claims.
This is great. I had no idea about Lil' Jon!
Although Rick Ross is a fake I still have much love for him.
Wow. Well, Rick Ross has been in a jail for a long time. He can say that.
LOL@ Jonathan Mortimer Smith. Someone needs to do the research on his parents' careers. It reminds me of my visit to my supposedly po' BF's house. I had my pepper spray in my hand and everything. Come to find out that he lives on a beach-front palatial house and CHOSE to go to public school . We dined at the yacht club. Why is poverty so glamorous to some people with money?
Wow Lil John,if true have the type of family that most people dream about.
That Game song is very nice until you listen to the words. That song is one of the most brutal of all rap songs I've listen to in it's treatment of women. I can't believe it's possible to hate women that much. He talked about the different video girls like they are scum on the bottom of his shoe.
Well,Dr. Dre I am not surprised. Easy had a video with a pic of Dre with eyeliner and a face full of glitter. MAC had nothing on DRE back in the day.
Why is poverty so glamorous to some people with money?
Daria, I think it's guilt. For those who didn't work for it but inherited money, feeling guilty about being rich is often a part of life. Have you ever seen the documentary "Born Rich" by one the Johnson and Johnson heirs.

No
The antidote to Rich Guilt is to be a useful member of society. For me, I would have to have at least J&J kinda money to feel badly about being wealthy because then you know you've got everything in life stacked in your favor. If generations are able to sustain an extravagant lifestyle, a lifetime of cocaine included, then you should feel badly.
I do not get why people chose to act like coons, let alone fake it.
Whats wrong with being middle class and up.
Im proud of my non-poverty, somewhat privilege upbringing, why aren't they?
Or is that not black enough?
Lil John is educated…..wow. I found that to be the most surprising of these.
I co-sign what M said. My parents worked hard in order for my sisters and I to live in a middle class upbringing.
Their record sales depend on the imagery they present in their videos & lyrics. The more over the top, the better. It's ironic that in a culture of "keeping it real" so many are fake.
People need to stop listening this crap! These idiots make the world think we are dangerous, violent, stupid, people who need to be locked up because of the acts these fools are putting on. They are ruining your reputation but acting like this. It spreads around the world. When people think of Black people these fools come to mind but they are fakers! Bastards!
skeet skeet skeet
that is all
P.S.: LMAO at that Dr. Dre cover. "Glittery"
I know Lil Jon very well. One of his parents is a neurosurgeon and the other a chemist. Yes, they do live in a huge mansion and they have live this way all his life. I am glad this has finally got out.
I remember back in the day that Jon was really into the neo-soul scene, particularly as a DJ and he use to laugh at all the "hood ala booty shake" music. Now he makes it. He is proof that as Cindy Lauper sang, "Money Changes Everything".
I am glad Rick Ross was outed as well…I had a hunch he was a fake like all the others.
Oh and I am old school (over 35) so I knew about Dre and the World Class Wrecking Crew. As a matter of fact he wrote and performed on their hit " Before You Turn Out The Lights" with Michele. He never hid the fact that he was in the group so I see nothing wrong with him. Like Game said "even gangsters were dancing like New Edition".
Lauren, great post! I had no idea about these fools!
I'm cracking up at my man reclining on the red sofa.
