Next week I’m scheduled to set foot on US soil for the first time in three months. I suppose it’s about time I begin to get reacquainted with my mother nation’s traditions and values, so I’m really happy this article ran in today’s Wall Street Journal, reminding me that America is a place where serious thought is put into whether our politicians are fat enough to be good leaders.
That woman's words were taken out of context Cord.
Let's not pretend that many, many Americans don't have a preconcieved notion about what a leader should look like that has nothing to do with actual leadership qualities, and isn't just restricted to race and gender. Perfectly qualified people are shunted aside on account of this in the workplace all of the time (even in non-"traditionally looks based" industries), and politics — where appearances are everything — isn't an exception. 9 times out of 10, these biases work against "fat people."
But why pass up another perfectly fine opportunity to laugh at oversensitive, whiny fat people? Remember when they sued McDonalds? *lulz* Next thing you know, they'll be asking for adequate media representation!
