For Those Of Us Who Missed Out On The Black College Experience

bcf.jpg
Why play an NFL or NCAA video game when you can have the ultimate gaming experience — and by ultimate, I mean you can play football and be a drum major in the same game.

"This is the most brutally fun and amazingly accurate football experience out there. Set in the unique and colorful world of Black College Football, BCFx puts you in the spotlight. Step into the cleats of a player: Make hard hits and split decisions, as you guide your team through the season. Feel the passion of the fans and the music from the band coarse through your veins as you get closer, yard-by-yard, to the Championship game. Step into the boots of a drum major: Halftime offers no respite as you suit up, grip your baton and lead your band of musical maestros through intricate formations as the crowd roars in amazement. It's the Battle of the Bands: Win this and you just might give your team what it needs to prevail in the second half."

Does Nick Cannon provide any of the voices?

Graphics are just so-so, but the concept is ill. I wish EA Sports would have done this game.

I was gonna go to a black college, but in the end it was just too far from home. The closest I get to that experience is going to the Bayou Classic -which always makes me wish I'd gone to a black college.

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a post of mine that doesn't include a bit of sarcasm, but in this case, I think you're detecting me resorting to a Drumline reference because I'm pretty clueless about both football and video games.

Gotcha! I'm a little, ahem, 'sen-sa-tive' about HBCUs as some of 'us' don't think they are necessary anymore then are shocked when they go to PWIs and realized they ain't loved there.

Get in where you fit in.

Well, I am attending a predominately white college and I have family members who are or used to attend black colleges. They both have thier pros and cons.

As for the football games, I'm all for the HBCUs. You can't beat the ticket prices and the halftime show.

I'd be all about this if it were on Playstation 2. My computer isn't exactly up to the task of runnin' video games. Besides, NBA Live 2004 (late pass please) is makin' me angry. I'm sick of Rick Fox not making shots from the top of the key, and Steve Nash done got on my last nerve. I could use a new sports game to play. I bet this game would be a bigger deal though, if it were associated with BET and College Hill. I'm surprised this game hasn't been overly commercialized. I know how the media loves to repackage the black image for mass consumption.

Do the band girls (?) really wear flesh colored bikinis?

Even if I attended a HBCU, I'm sure I'd be equally oblivious. Can't get As and stay up to date on Days of Our Lives on a football field.
