Franca Sozzani Is Cooler Than Anna Wintour

vogueitalia.jpgIt's no longer just a rumor: Vogue Italia's July issue will only feature black models. Franca Sozzani, the magazine's editor-in-chief, said she wants to highlight the beautiful black girls that "nobody uses."

"We are using a lot of black models, like Iman, not only the models of today – a lot of different girls," she told the Independent. "Maybe in our country it is not the best idea. But I don't care. I think it is not my problem if they don't like it – it's their problem."

Chic Noir: GUTSSSSSSS!!?

It's about time! I'm not being funny but I'm sorry-black girls from all those shades..so kick ass as models because their skin tones, their juxtaposed features if they are mixed and take various features…..

Oh! This is the first issue of Vogue in a long, long time I will be buying!!

@summer-Most Barnes and Nobels carry Italien Vogue. The issue will cost you about 15 or 20 bucks because it is an international mag. If you have other idependant magazine newspaper spots around you can most likly find it there.

I can't wait to buy this issue! It's great to see Italian Vogue embarrassing the other Vogues and the other fashion rags like this.

i implore you all to grab a copy as the chief excuse given for not using black models, on covers in particular, is that they(we) dont sell. so lets disprove that notion! I've worked at 2 magazines so I've heard all discussions round the staff meeting table. And while overdue, it is pretty brave to make such a bold statement in this dramatic way. All black models, in the entire issue by what is considered by and large THE chicest/hottest of the Vogues– that's powerful.

only thing that makes me a little sad is that we may now be deemed "trendy"???? Can we afford to be "in" or "out"

w00t w00t! Material for my website. What would be nicer? If she used them regularly and not as maids to the white women like a few months ago.

TD- Thank you for your comment. If we don't support than who will.

French vogue did a tribute issue to Lila Kabede a few years ago.

Thank you Franka! That takes balls!!! Who cares about Wintour any way!! She looks like a scarecrow! And, she has no taste at all!
