From The Smoking Gun: "In time for this week's start of the NFL season, All-Pro wide receiver Chad Johnson has legally changed his surname to OchoCinco, in recognition of his uniform number. A Florida judge last week approved the Cincinnati Bengals's name change application… In Broward County Circuit Court documents, the limelight-loving Johnson, who has long referred to himself by the rough Spanish translation for 85, his uniform number, describes himself as a twice-arrested unmarried father of four (his kids include Chad II, Chade, and Cha'iel)."
Why is it necessary to bring up 'twice arrested, unmarried father' in a sports story? It's no wonder the reputation of the cynical media is as bad as it is. If everyone's dirty laundry were aired in a national forum people would be far less judgmental.
you open yourself up to that level of scrutiny not by virtue of playing football, but with wild antics like naming yourself Ocho Cinco.
He has the nerve to change his name (which is NOT the correct way to say 85 in Spanish), while the Bengals suck.
so is his first name 8 and his last name 5? he is an idiot.
Well I was hoping the unmarried part was to let us know that these poor children might have their mothers names and will not be affected by his stupidity. But, since the first child is Chad II does that mean he is no longer a second or does he have to change his name to this foolery?
Come on now, DI. W.o.r.k with us. His *last* name is OchoCinco. He speaks no Spanish, has no Spanish heritage…. You never met anyone who changed their name to two Spanish numbers before? SMH

He is an idiot. No other words can describe him. And we wonder why people don't like black athletes. Maybe he needs to read 40 million dollar slaves.
Chade and Cha'iel???? You can't be surprised that clown renamed himself TWO Spanish numbers. How do you even pronounce those names!!! My head hurts.
Why is everyone so concerned about what a person names himself. That is his/her perjorative and right. It doesn't make him an idiot. Why is Johnson(son of john, was his fathers name John) more legitimate than Ochocinco which obviously means more to him than Johnson.
Have we forgotten how Muhammad Ali was vilified for exercising his rights?
