For the sake of Halle Berry's movie reviews, let's hope that having a baby opened up a previously untapped emotional for the actress. She just signed on to star in and produce her first post-Nahla movie. The film, Frankie & Alice, is about a woman with multiple personality disorder; one of her personalities is a racist white person. Berry, of course, plays the mentally ill woman. It sounds like the sort of drama that could be unintentionally humorous if it's not done well. So let's hope it's done well. [E!]
Is this a post baby pic?
I doubt it. I wonder why she always plays nutjobs, or persons that have encountered a lot of tragedy? Seriously, her sanest role has been Storm.
Probably b/c she is a nutjob. She should do TV.
unintentionally humorous if it’s not done well
Can you say Queen? "I's nigrah, I's nigrah…"
I wonder less about whether she's got previously untapped emotional wells than I do about whether she's got previously untapped acting talent.
'Cause no matter what the Academy thinks, chick cannot act.
And this sounds a bit similar to that role Gabrielle Union did/was supposed to do a while back.
It's quite possible that these are just the roles she's offered. I haven't seen all or most of her movies so I can't comment.
barbelle, the only thing I can think of involving mental hospitals and Gabi is the movie Neo Ned.
bmd, she's not a nut job. She had depression and cliche fatherless-black-woman issues. I think there has to be something entertaining about a particular mental illness for the sufferer to be classified as a nut job. Examples of great nut jobs are Britney and Naomi.
Why does Halle always go for the mentally deranged characters? Is she alluding to her actual self by any chance? One can only wonder.
Actually, Naomi also grew up without a father. If you look at most of the men she has been linked to over the years they have been much older than her.
HUH! Why couldn't Gabrielle Union's "Neo Ned" get a nationwide release date?
