Prosecutors trial of Chiman Rai, an Indian-born former HBCU professor and entrepreneur who is on trial for allegedly killing his daughter-in-law because she's black, rested their case yesterday. Rai's lawyers said that their client had a large amount of affection for the black community, but his former cellmate said that he hated black people. "He said, 'They're all scum — everyone of those black people are scum. I wish I had more money, I would get rid of them all,'" he testified. [AJC]
Wow. There are things worth jeopardizing your liberty over. Your kid's black wife is not one of them. Unless the woman had a gun to your kid's head.
this hate crime stuff is really absurd sometimes. we're talking about murder and murder = hate. does it really matter why someones murdered? is it worse to kill someone coz of their skin color than killing em for money? ridiculous.
