That's terrible. More women do stuff like this than we'd like to think. I was at a lounge recently and a pregnant woman kept taking mini- sips of her husband's beer. She was like 8 mos. at that point so not as big a deal, but she seemed to be taking LOTS of mini-sips. LOL.

Yea. At that point your dr. says you can have a sippy or two of wine/beer. Probably like half a glass, but you should otherwise have a very healthy pregnancy before you do that. Or so I've heard from my friends and fam who've had babies. Hard alcohol is totally forbidden.

I don't know about cigs though. I assume those are totally off limits regardless of the time.

I saw a woman with a hijab that had to be 7 or 8 months pregnant smoking. I really wanted to say something but hey, it's not my baby. I didn't even know Muslim women could smoke. I thought it was on the no-list.

My mom drank when she was pregnant with me at my grandmother's advice. Beer supposedly helps morning sickness. America is actually one of the few places where complete abstinence from alcohol is preached.

You're right. It's b/c Americans have addiction issues. And we are also gluttonous. If you tell an American woman she can have a "sip" of wine that will turn into a bottle. Then we'll all be suing the doctors. Americans aren't savvy and mature enough to handle such things.
