Iranians Say They Will Retaliate If Attacked
Inauspicious Beginnings

Two weeks after Hillary Clinton said in an interview that as President she would send America's military to "totally obliterate" Iran were the Muslim nation to attack Israel, an Iranian cleric has responded with his own threats of violence.

Ahmed Khatami told a large crowd of followers Friday that he believes America is "fighting Islam," adding, "If the crazy people in Washington or Tel Aviv take any military action [against Iran], the Iranian nation will hit them with such a slap that they will not be able to get on their feet again."

Ok, wait, so while Hillary is threatening to attack Iran for no damn reason, Israel is still allowed to attack, murder and oppress Palestinians, while the USA stands by and praises their only Middle Eastern ally?

Gotcha.

How about we agree on this: Don't start no shit, won't be no shit. K?

That was as idiotic as the whole let's have tea with Syria from Obama. I have no faith in any of these people's abilities to not screw up with disastrous consequences. Where are the think tanks? The policy groups? Do I need to pack up and head to Belgium or something? Ugh.

The US really needs to focus of its own problem and slide that (completely warranted) gentile guilt over to the EU countries whose inaction led to the Holocaust which mad this well-intentioned mess.

I'm pretty sure the weapons we've given them will pull them through while we scrap up frickin coast guard people to go fight a war with Iran. Reality check: we can barely afford our current commitments. Truly, today's Israel would probably not exist without the US' hand. It doesn't take a scholar to figure out that giving a bunch of enemies a common enemy will further screw up centuries' long problems. Do they deserve a homeland? Yes, but it didn't HAVE to be this homeland when the expenses would be safety and the liberties of other people. It's not so much the support of Israel that bothers me, though the financial support is substantial. It's the completely silence of the American government regarding Palestinian people. Innocent Israelis and Palestinians are dying solely for the sake of ideology.

This is some serious non-Black trash talk.

"If you obliterate me I will hit you with such a slap that you will not be able to get up on your feet again."

::smh @ them & their 9000 word threats::

@ Mammoth - My father is from Iran, too, and I've been there to visit (we're not Persian, though - we're Armenian). We have absolutely nothing good to say about that country, but we still have family there. The actual people seem to loathe the government and consider the mullahs a bunch of hypocrites. But anyway.
I'm actually a big supporter of Israel, but I think Israel can actually take care of itself quite nicely. If it couldn't, some country in that region would have attacked by now - they wouldn't dare.
Hillary's "obliteration" claim is simple one-upmanship; even she's not as stupid to actually do that.
And about the US's support of Israel - I know a life is a life wherever it is, but the Palestinians would have a state of their own a long time ago if they hadn't chosen to attack Israel all the time. Each time they attack, they lose more land and sovereignty. And yet coexistence is only now creeping into the realm of possibility for them.
Meanwhile, in Darfur, *a hundred times as many* people are being killed, and there's silence. Why? Because the Arabs are the perpetrators, not the victims, in this instance.

Is this the same Israel that just got caught spying on the US yet again?
Just checking…

@ JM:

Um. I don't really want to get into an argument with you, but suffice it to say that if you were looking for any kind of ally with those statements, you haven't found one in me.

I will agree that life for Iranians is despicable and difficult because of the mullahs. Just as life is difficult for many people of any country you just mentioned because their government does not give two shits about protecting or truly governing their people. They care about money & power. And it's always the people who suffer.

OK, I guess I'm saying more than I thought I would here - I'm a humanist. I don't believe in aligning myself with groups of people due to the arbitrary boundaries that have been drawn on this globe (I know that in the Israel/Palestine situation, the boundaries seem less than arbitrary). But it's still the talking heads of government and religion that oppress the people and at any cost will seek money & power. That is some old bullshit, as far as I'm concerned. What kind of dumbass can actually say that they are "Pro-fill-in-the-blank-country." What the hell have those a-holes in charge ever done for you?

Daria that was Brilliant.

Jm, can you explain why the people think the mullahs are hypocrites.
