It's Not Too Soon To Start Criticizing Kanye West Again, Is It?

kanyespin.jpgQuote of the Week

Kanye West in Spin, doing his version of a bad Comic View stand-up routine:

“There’s certain things that black people are the best at and certain things that white people are the best at. Whatever we as black people are the best at, I’ma go get that. Like, on Christmas I don’t want any food that tastes white. And when I go to purchase a house, I don’t want my credit to look black… White-people food? You know what it is. You never ate fried chicken and said, ‘This tastes white.”

Why critisize? That's hilarious. And true.

"And when I go to purchase a house, I don’t want my credit to look black"

LOL!

Hilarious until the maître d' at that fancy restaurant thinks twice about seating you and your "black credit."

Why are we still OK with "black" stuff being poor and "white" stuff being bland? How long until there's good things and bad things, not black things and white things?

White isn't bland as long as I'm in the mix….at least that's what I tell my hubby everyday. ;-)

And how does biracial food taste Kanye? What about biracial credit?

Seriously, I really believe that every other thing coming out of this guy's mouth is designed for shock value because he clearly knows better.

I recall reading around the time that his mother died that he spent some time in China as a child - speaking Chinese no less, so he's been exposed to a lot and he knows this stuff sounds silly.

Cord: I think as long as there are black and white people there will be black and white things. Just as there are and forever will be guy things and girl things (i.e. peens and vijays). Whether the joke/comment is funny or intelligent is about context and delivery etc more than getting over seeing thing along racial lines.

I think Kanye's quote illustrates this: I'd bet the "credit being black" line gets a better response than "white food is bland" … cause it's closer to the truth, less hack etc.

If he put it in hand quotation marks, I don't see anything wrong with the black credit statement because he didn't make it up, a lot of people use it and we all know what it means. He shouldn't be furthering stereotypes, but he also stated that he buys into them.

Basically, what the man is saying is that he's the antithesis of original and rebellious. Shock.

He just lost his mother. He'll be missing her this Christmas. Bless his heart.

That was funny… You dont want to buy a house with black peoples credit… you wont get it… and I know all people cn taste the difference in when a white person cooks a dish in opposition to a black person fixing a dish Im not saying either side is better, its all in preference, and thats just how it is, anyone who says otherwise is lying…
