Jennifer Hudson has been tapped to join Sanaa Lathaan, Rockmond Dunbar, Alfre Woodard and Kathy Bates in Tyler Perry's new film, The Family That Preys, which is Perry's first film featuring white main characters. The movie will start shooting March 2, directly followed by Madea Goes to Jail. Perry's Meet the Browns is in theaters on March 21. And Perry is rumored to have a role in the new Star Trek film. Busy man.
Good for J Hud.
What's with the Madea movie? I thought he'd graduated from the black-man-in-mammy-drag thing??
Kathy Bates is awesome. Loved her in 'Dolores Claiborne'.
Doing a Tyler Perry film is a major step down for Kathy Bates (or anyone with actual talent).
solitaire quit hating on tyler. He has an audience for his movies and large one considter he makig do re mi. How well is your gig paying you?
Wow. Some people say the most ignorant stuff. How is working with this brother that employs alot of underrated, Hollyweird ignored, talented black actors a step down?
That comment is more of a disgrace than anything Madea has ever said out of her mouth.
I think Tyler Perry is great. I can totally see him in a Star Trek movie too.
I'm a fan of Madea. I don't care what anyone says. LOL. Love the movies and the plays. Yea, I said it!! ;-D
Tyler Perry and his buffonish plays/films are what I call ignorant and disgraceful. The fact that they make money in no way makes them worthy of my praise.
Why they gotta be ignorant, tho? Poorly written, yeah. Badly paced, absolutely. Problematic on issues of gender, hell yeah.
But dude's films, once you get past all that, are on some hardcore Cosby/family values/moralistic shit. Take care of your fam, do right by your woman, blah blah blah.
What's ignorant about them?
