Janice Dickinson Does Fat Tyra Damage Control

The greatest thing about publicity tours is that when you go on a talk show in the morning and call Tyra Banks fat during an interview with a black host who has had highly-publicized gastric bypass surgery, you can retract the statement the very same day during an interview with a different black host who has had highly-publicized gastric bypass surgery.

That's exactly what Janice Dickinson, who called Tyra Banks fat on the Today Show yesterday, did when she visited Star Jones later in the day*. Star, who generally has a gentle, fawning interviewing style, showed a brief hint of sass when Janice brought up her Tyra comments. But it's all over now. When Al Roker and Star Jones forgive you for a fat joke, you're forgiven.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I saw the Star Jones interview during lunch yesterday, and I wondered what the hell Janice was referring to. But I just assumed it was the years of drug abuse causing her to speak randomly and I let it pass.

You mean the lifetime of drug abuse? I saw her THS. She comes from a f-ed up family and while that certainly doesn't give her a free pass to be a horrible person, having not been repeatedly molested and possibly raped by my father and what not, I can't say what sort of impact that sort of thing can have on a person. It sure as hell explains the drug abuse.

I just found out about the molestation on Star's show. Janice is SO cavalier about it. After she tosses it up in the middle of the conversation, it was like, "oh, hey, wait, oh, damn, okay, shit."

Not that she thinks it's no big deal. But she says it basically in a "shit happens" sort of way. And that signals a really effed up childhood. So yeah, daria, like Chris Rock says, I'm not saying it's right, but I understand [the drug abuse].
