John Singleton pulled a Brandy last Thursday night, if pulling a Brandy means accidentally killing someone with your car. The director wasn't speeding nor under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the accident — making any in-poor-taste Fast and the Furious jokes impossible — which occurred when a 57-year-old woman suddenly stepped in front of Singleton's Lexus SUV. It was ruled by police as an unfortunate accident, but we'll see what the judge says when the inevitable wrongful death suits come rolling in.
[TMZ]
By 'unfortunate accident' I assumed you were talking about one of John's crap movies.
On a serious note, people can so stupid when they're walking across streets. I've seen people walking across major streets who will just dart out in front of a car and not even bat an eye-lash. The best is when I'm driving in a parking lot and someone will pop out of a store with their head down and just walk right in front of my car. Yet, I'd be wrong if I was to hit them??
I hit a woman once when I pulling out of a parking lot. She saw me and then sped up to cross, but I didn't see her. I barely hit her legs, but I got out and asked her why she was trying to "race" me? Pedestrians are just fucking stupid sometimes.
Hmmm. Well after learning a bit more about suicides than I had intended to this weekend, it could be that the woman wanted to die. A lot of "accidents" aren't really accidents and it's a way for their family to save face. Aunt Maggie being tragically hit by a car sounds a lot better than Aunt Maggie hurling herself in front of a car to end her unhappiness.
Sorry for being morbid
Yes, there are dumb pedestrians (and apparently their cluelessness because of cell phones is contributing to a rise in fatalities), but they are still 100-200 pounds of vulnerable flesh against several tons of steel, and drivers need to be more cautious if for no other reason than this inherent inequity. About a month ago a man made a turn through the crosswalk even though there were two of us pedestrians already in it; drivers do it ALL THE TIME even though it's illegal. Before he could get two blocks he'd hit a bicyclist.
