Kanye West became very, shall we say, Kanye West Friday after reading this generally positive B+ review of his "Glow in the Dark Tour" from Entertainment Weekly. He blew up on his blog, posting an angry rant that betrays a general lack of understanding on his part of the concept of critical reviews.
Ya'll rated my album shitty and now ya'll come to the show and give it a B+. What's a B+ mean? I'm an extremist. It's either pass or fail! A+ or F-! You know what, fuck you and the whole fucking staff!!! I know I shouldn't dignify this with a comment, but the reviewer threw a jab at all the artists. I just wanna know when was the last time you enjoyed yourself. If you can't have fun and lose yourself at this tour it's a good chance you're a very miserable person. I actually feel sorry for you guys. Your job forces you to not have fun anymore. Grab a drink, holla at some nice girls, and party bitch!! You don't know shit about passion and art. You'll never gain credibility at this rate. You're fucking trash! I make art. You can't rate this. I'm a real person. I'm not a pop star. I don't care about anything but making great art. Never come 2 one of my shows ever again, you're not invited and if you see me…BOW!!
After a weekend of what was surely some serious reflection, Kanye West returned to this subject on his blog and apologized. Sort of. Actually, not really at all. But it's probably as close as he's capable of coming.
I did go in a little 2 much on that [EW post]. I'm sure there are some cool people who work over there and had nothing 2 do with that review. With all that said…. "I'm still the greatest!!!" lol!!
With that sort of positive, self-reflective attitude, I really don't understand how he could have possibly had relationship problems with his ex-fiancee Alexis.
dude needs a valium, stat!
Wow! Isn't that the Kanye that we've come to expect. I can only say that I hope that in the latter years of his life he will be come much more humble. He'll learn to let what people say about his work roll down his back like those offensive words roll off of his tongue.
Love. Him.
Not because of this though I do enjoy Kanye vs. EW.
He is sensitive because he invests a LOT in what he does and OBVIOUSLY cares about what others think of him. If he didn't, he'd do like Dee says and let it roll off his back. I love his blog and it really offers some insight into who he is as a person. First of all, he has about as many posts as this blog each day. Plus weekends and after concerts. What other celebrity would do all that? His ego is fragile, his skin is paper thin and his temper is very short. Still love him though.
2nd that daria. i went to his concert thursday night, and i love him even more. i bought those tickets with the knowledge that kanye would give 110% and then some to his show. and i was not disappointed.
I love him too but he needs to chill.
Kayne is such a punk; there's no way I'm ever buying any of his stuff.
Mitch, that means there'll be an extra for someone who actually appreciates him. Good.
Daria and Summer, I'm with you. I went to the concert on Friday, and considering how he stopped the show to get the tech people to work on fixing the projection screens that weren't showing anything so that us with crappy lawn seats could actually see something , I have a deeper appreciation.
Jesus walks!
