Katt Williams Is Either Into S&M Or Lynching

Perhaps because I have no interest in looking at pictures of Katt Williams and suspected the same about you guys, I missed these photos of the diminutive comedian wearing a noose around his neck on the red carpet at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Hilarious*, especially considering two of the Jena Six were also in attendance.

*But, of course, not really.

Rediculous. This is why our community as a whole is looked at without respect. What makes that funny? The people who have the oppurtunity to speak out on injustice becuase they are constantly in front of the cameras which can reach more households now more then back in the 60s, dont take anything serious. The superintendent of the Jena school system dismissed the nooses as nothing but a joke, and Katt Williams just agreed with him.

It's a tasteless joke. There's no reason to put more on it. We have bigger fish to fry, verdad?

Disturbing. Although the So Cal Nike Air Force 1s are fresh.

I think this is actually social commentary and not a joke. The noose is broken…indicating that he broke free. I think it's supposed to represent strength and perseverance. It's basically saying "You can't do anything to me that hasn't already been done and I'll still come out better and stronger than before." I could also be giving Katt Williams too much credit…

I hope you're right Demetria. But I didn't get that from the pictures.

No, you aren't giving him too much credit. You are spot on Demetria. If you watch Katt Williams Live, he shows up in his hometown of Cincinnati, solely to get everybody laughing. At the time that he did the special, there had been a recent police shooting (a.k.a police murdering an innocent) in the community. Williams is a very aware individual. I feel that he is trying to make a social commentary, even if it is ill timed.

I'm just offended that he didn't press his shit out. Hahahaha. I mean, the noose is one thing - the hair is another.

(yes, I know what it's representing)

I'm offended that he does press his mess out. LOL It is weird for a grown black man who is not Al Sharpton or a west coast gangster rapper (a la Snoop, DJ Quick, etc) to be rockin' a press and curl. Like, why? LOL

i get it. as soon as black folk stop letting these crackas get under our skin about the dumbest shit, we could probably move forward and solve some of our REAL issues. yeah hanging a neuce's is offensive but the more we let it bother us the more they(white folk) are gonna keep hanging them!

So the jena situation isnt a real issue? Or are you saying they shouldve ignored the fact a noose was hung from the "white" tree? All they did was silently protest.

This is offensive…pure and simple…the fear and trepidation that Blacks and other minorities feel when they come out of their homes or are faced with this badge of terror is REAL!!!

Everything should NOT be made into a joke…because somethings just aren't FUNNY!!!

It amazes me how we can make excuses for our own ignorance. I think Katt Williams is very funny but we are already taken as a joke and yet we feed into it. We can say that the nooses don't mean anything but we need to take a look at our history and see how many of us died by the nooses. People died for our people to be where we are now and yet we have so far to go. We should be outraged about the nooses because there are no laws on the books to protect us from that type of intimidation. Wake up my people and realize that Katt didn't make a statement, he looked like an idiot. Until he speaks out against the injustices in this country, along with all of the hip hop community and actors and entertainers, all he's viewed as is a joke. We must realize that what others do in the media affects us all and the views of us all, regardless of the decisions that we make. I have to prove myself daily on my job because we are viewed as ignorant and not knowing anything. So how do I teach my son to be productive when we have fools making us all look bad in the public eye. We wonder why we are viewed as we are and abused when we don't stand up for anything. Katt needs to find another way to express himself.

Maybe someone should google Katt Williams and find out who his management company is and write to them? Let them know how upset everyone is and how, apparently, unfunny he is.

I am going to give this person the benefit of the doubt and assume that this was a misguided form of protest. I saw a few Jena 6 photos taken in solidarity with the 6 young men in which nooses were present & in which one photo-taker said "I wanted both the black clothes and the noose, so we don't forget what this is about." Since Katt also had a black t-shirt on, I'd like to believe that he was doing the same thing.

what the hell thats whats wrong with black people today we as a people are so quick to jump on a hating band wagon Katt williams didnt wear the noose as disrespect i think he did it in protest of what has been going on in the black community for years we let white people determine how we as black people should feel and for you as black to say is is down with the klan you got to be out of your rabbit ass minds if anything we as a community have taken out more of our own than any white man could have ever done so instead of hating a black mans movement why not try and understand and make one of your own i am not saying he went about it in the right way but damn at least he did something it is like the whole thing with the Jena 6 just kind of went away like all the cop killings and lynching that have been going on and if its ok for white people to hang a noose in their yards for Halloween and they arent on CNN explaning themselves than why cant he express himself

I think is is a social commentary that most people obviously didn't get. He wore a noose around his neck (Jena 6) and didn't press out his hair aka he's a "nappy headed hoe" (Don Imus.)

If you would take time to check his facial expression…it's a straight serious expression on his face! Surely this ain't no joke. Katt's obviously attempting to make a statement. I'm not entirely sure what this statement is, but there is one to be interpretted by these images

This reminded me of some crazy ish I read on racialicious. A black man who is solely interested in dating white women was baffled by the fact that a love interest stopped calling after he asked her to whip him and call him Toby.

I believe that since Katt Williams ans Daymon Wayons can't respect themselves or their race, that we shouldn't respect them in kind!! African Americans should stop buying or going to their movies and stop going to their stand up comedy routines! Let these idiots know that they do not represent the AfricanAmerican community with they're stupidity and ignorance!!!

Black is Beautiful!!! always has been and always will be!

He did it to prove a point. He explained it in his standup, that he was not trying to be funny. The reason he wore it was to let those folk that were hanging nooses know, that they were basically some racist punks.
