Lighten Up, Record Companies

The National Music Publishers’ Association is joining in on a lawsuit, which already includes Viacom and the Football Association Premier League, to sue YouTube for copyright infringement.

The plaintiffs say YouTube is breaking the law by carrying video clips for which the plaintiffs hold copyrights. YouTube says it is complying with the law by immediately taking down any clips found to be violating copyrights after receiving notification.

David M. Israelite, chief executive of the music publishers’ association, said in a statement that his group was “very concerned about YouTube’s approach to copyright.”

Seriously, if YouTube goes the way of Napster after all of these lawsuits, I'm going to take to my bed for a week.
